... eating ice cream directly from the pint.

It always destroys spoons eventually, might as well use ones too sharp, too tinny, too light, the wrong shape, or with just the wrong bend in them already.

Edit: for all the head scratchers out there, it's a trait some of us neurodivergent folks have. Some forks or spoons or whatever are nice to hold, and some are actually upsetting to use.

Ugh, I hate eating ice cream with the wrong spoon.

there's a fork in our house, used to be part of a 4 piece set but the other 3 vanished at some point, that's just a fork head mounted on a rounded black plastic handle. over the years this fork's handle has become viscerally upsetting to hold as it deforms and bubbles from having sat too long in dishwater. i hate it. i wish it to be gone from our silverware collection like its ilk. i will literally go to the thrift store and pick up several all-metal pieces to replace it, just let me get rid of this one.

Do it. Maybe keep it in your room for a while if you live with your parents and they’re likely to notice and/or care, but if you live with roommates or a partner, you’re just doing maintenance by updating warped, damaged cutlery (unless they’re emotionally attached to this fork, but then just keep it as their personal fork).

It doesn’t have to be a secret, either, unless you live with unreasonable people.

i promise you my partner's family is very reasonable, we just have issues with coordinating transport.

also we were literally just at the thrift store the other day and i completely forgot to look at forks, although i nearly picked up a fruit bowl/banana hook thing but partner's mom eventually put it back.

Ah, I did not consider living with a partner’s family, that would probably make me more hesitant to replace things without checking first.

i don't have a bad spoon drawer but now i realize i probably should have one. or get rid of ~~all~~ most of my current ones which are an unmatched Hodge podge of accumulated one-offs.

luckily the arms race between my typical ice cream's defense and spoons' offense has maintained an balance thus far.

Other uses: stirring the honey into my mint tea! Measuring cocoa powder! Basically anything where I can reasonably chuck it in the sink instead of using it to carry food to my mouth.
