A fresh update is here! This release brings initial support for PieFed. The PieFed API is still under development, so some features are limited, but here’s what’s new:

  • Support for PieFed (limited while the API evolves)
  • Notifications for new activity on communities, posts, comments, or users on PieFed
  • View topics and feeds

Give it a try and let me know how it works for you!

PieFed is a Lemmy alternative for the fediverse, more info here: https://join.piefed.social/

Been using it for a couple of days now and it works pretty well! I wish the merged comment sections could make it to the app, that's a really great feature on the piefed website

Can someone explain a bit? Does this mean we get to see more communities in the app? Is there anything we/I have to do besides update Boost?

This only affects those who registered their account on piefed. It allows them to login into their account and interact with the website. If your account is on lemmy (which is the case for you), it does not affect you in any way.

Basically, lemmy uses 2 different APIs:

One (activitypub) is used for communication between instances. It is the same for both Lemmy and piefed, so no work is needed on this front.

The second one is used for interacting between lemmy core and applications (like boost, but also lemmy webui). Piefed for whatever reasons decided to make it incompatible with Lemmy, so all application have to do some work in order to add piefed support.

No further questions, thanks!

Looks great. I'm patiently waiting for mbin support. Keep up the good work!

I've been using it the past few days with piefed and it's been fantastic. Thank you!

Also, I kept my word and boosted the rocket :)

Fantastic! I have been waiting for this. Feels good to be back on boost after so long.

App fails to install on both of my devices :(

is there a way to report any issues with the piefed part of this version (or do you want us to? i know it was mentioned it was in beta).

i just noticed that marking or reading comments works between desktop and boost but i've noticed in the app, you have to mark read in both the "all" and "replies" tab. not a big deal and i'm sure you know but i just wanted to mention it just in case you didn't notice it.

So far haven't noticed any issues. Settled on Piefed after lemm.ee shutdown, but didn't like any of the apps that supported it. Glad to see Boost works with it!

I'm not sure why but I'm having trouble scrolling on All. It's hitting a bottom fairly quickly. I also am not seeing all comments, like for instance I made a post and can only see aboug half the comments in the actual post, the rest I have to read through my messages.

I am experiencing the same issue since the update.

I'm thinking the comment loading issue is more of a federation issue than a Boost one. I can't even see my own comment on this post.

The scrolling issue I've experienced before moving to PieFed, though I think that has something to do with my server and Boost being on different versions. It usually resolved itself once my server's version got updated.

At least it's not just me.
