We should still keep the pressure up as I suspect there has been a lot of bot votes and Non EU voters

Yeah that's why I added the link. The website is having some issues though.

How can non-EU people or even bots vote? You have to provide some form of identification. Genuinely asking.

[–] JoeKrogan@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Not all countries do. So you could just use name and address which may or may not be valid

Someone else said that Sweden doesn't require identification. Absolutely mindboggling. Thanks for letting me know.

signatures aren't immediately validated; the identification you provide is just ticking boxes. verification happens after the signing period, when the signatures are sent to their respective states to confirm and tally.

So there is no verification going on when I provide my passport number? Like, it doesn't check for valid inputs, meaning e.g. the format has to fit the general format for passport numbers of my country?

There should be a better system in place to prevent voting fraud.

i mean there's basic input validation yeah, but the number of unique valid signatures isn't known for all countries till after the collection period.

I see, thank you.

isn't the whole thing automatically disqualified, even if only one person decided to vote multiple times?

What about an initiative for compulsory better parenthood? Could we vote for that instead?
