Flying would almost never be profitable if "externalities" were priced in.
Noise from planes has measurable health effects for enormous swaths of people. Fuel use is bonkers, and they don't serve any of the communities they pass over unlike other transit methods.
Like props to them for their mad sick trains but also fuck planes. Flying is fun but ludicrously indulgent and deleterious.
