Actually the whole machine is giving me a geek-gasm

What's it like to type on? Is it clicky?

[-] apfel@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

The one I got was so dusty, it was mostly scratchy... I just took off the caps and put the rest into storage for later 😅

My god, that looks incredible

Thank you! :) Hoping to get a case printed in retro beige for the full old school look...

That sounds so rad! I'd love to see it again when you have a beige version :)

I'll definitely post it once done :)

What, and they just fit?!

Edit: It looks great!

[-] apfel@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

pretty much, yea! The Gabriele used cherry MY switches iirc, and the stems are very similar :)

Aha, interesting! This opens up an entirely new category of things to look for in thrift stores, for me. It hadn't occurred to me that electrical typewriters would be of relevance! Thanks for the learning!

So cool! I've been hoping to see one of these daughterboard orthocades in the wild. Have any extra parts? Would love to build one

[-] apfel@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Got all of it through a mini-groupbuy, so just one set of components for me... I bet you'd find other people to share with, though! 😊

[-] Bubbleology@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

beautiful build as always 😍

Ergonomic, split and other weird keyboards

Rules

Keep it ergo

Posts must be of/about keyboards that have a clear delineation between the left and right halves of the keyboard, column stagger, or both. This includes one-handed (one half doesn't exist, what clearer delineation is that!?)

i.e. no regular non-split¹ row-stagger and no non-split¹ ortholinear²

¹ split meaning a separation of the halves, whether fixed in place or entirely separate, both are fine.
² ortholinear meaning keys layed out in a grid
