Mabuhay at maligayang pagdating sa Lemmy! ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ

A fediverse community for the Philippines and all things Filipino!

Started out as a Reddit alternative during the blackout from Jun 12-21, 2023 with over 1k members in just a few days. Fizzled faster than the "I Didn't Do It" kid after a month until it became the internet's Centralia in less than a year.

Processing facilities for creating wafers for microprocessors would just need more electricity and some water at industrial levels, perhaps equivalent to what Taiwan uses for its semiconductor industry (yet they have some water supply problems than we do), but a AI data center will consume enormous amounts of electricity and water, which makes these unfeasible in this country.

That in any case, AI is being misused for capricious and unethical purposes, and its source data acquired without consent.

Even if we stop the data centers here, they will just build somewhere else and the money will be funneled there. I really want more foreign investments for our country. I believe we are in a good position with the water consumption because we receive a lot of rainfall.

Well i guess, all that can be done is a downvote rather than a proper discussion. Really not sure why you'd think I solely made this account for the purpose of this random post when my very first comment here is much older than this one. It just so happens that when I made this account, this is the newest topic in this community. ๐Ÿ˜…

Not sure if that should be a deal breaker. I am taking refuge because Reddit doesn't want to lift my shadowban even if it's just because of simple VPN use. How'd propagandists even care about this platform anyway considering there's very little engagements here. They're all on reddit I'm pretty sure. If you worry about propaganda, think of why other countries would actually want to stop PH from getting these probable foreign investments.
