After many moons and many houseplants. I've managed to keep one alive long enough to get a baby snek.

Just need to watch how I water it.

My new tree decided to give me a really pretty leaf just before winter. What a cool plant.

Hi, I was just gifted this cute gasteria. Should I remove those little offshoots to give the mother plant more room? And if yes how do I do that without causing damage?

Lots of south facing light from the left. I'm guessing pothos or ivy.

Especially looking for advice of support/infrastructure

Thanks

Hi folks. I was wondering if anyone had recommendations for indoor light sources. I live in Colorado and we’re going to start getting snow here before much longer so I’ll have to haul my plants in. I was thinking about using a flexible LED strip for lighting over the winter. I just moved into this apartment a couple months ago and exactly one room gets sunlight on one wall from a west facing window so some supplemental light might be needed for my growing succulent collection.

My little girl was dying after her first season after being adopted from a local super market. Now she came back to life - stronger than ever!

The only issue is, she is no longer "little" and she's not letting out any flowers. I'm pretty sure you are supposed to trim and cut roses, but I'm not sure how.

Could anyone help us out?

Rhypsalis burchellii. Can somebody help me with this little guy? It's loosing more and more branches. I put it in a warm living room, no change. I out it in a cooler room, nothing. I'm watering it about once a week and the soil dries in between.

The other month I asked for some help choosing plants for my boyfriend's birthday. Many thanks for all the suggestions! I decided to go for a Philodendron Plowmanii and a Jewel Orchid. They came as unpotted plants, so I just wanted to check that I've potted them correctly.

I put some clay pebbles at the bottom and then filled the rest with multi use compost. I made some little holes in the soil and gently placed the plants in, then covered up their roots.

Will they be ok like that, until next week when I can gift them? How much water should I give them?

Thanks for your help :)

Don't be afraid of the little reagent kits, they're easy to use and accurate and cheap! Think of them like little science kits. :)

The first(only) plant that I ever split off from its “parent” is coming along very nicely! It is some type of snake plant but I’m not sure which specifically.

My zz plant was doing okay. Wasn't growing as quickly as other describe despite living outside in a shady but bright part of my deck in NC USA. Should be getting plenty light and is protected from rain. Then this morning I find it like this. Each stem has a soft brown spot at the base and has fallen over. I cut them off and put them in a glass jar of water until I know what to do with the cuttings. I quickly checked the roots and everything looks and smells normal so I put it back in the soil.

The soil is a cactus mix with extra perlite added for drainage. So what could have caused this sudden change? And what is the best way to propagete zz plant cuttings? I have 4 or 5 so I think I may experiment with water propagtion and perlite propagation.

I've never kept these indoors. It should be interesting to see how they do.
