Eternity

Apologies if it’s already been addressed, but are there plans to release Eternity on the official F-droid repo? Would be great to see it there! And of course thanks to the dev and all the people who’ve put work into the app!

Is a release at the Play Store planned?

Yeah, I could install F-Droid for just one app, but I'm not going to :-). I am currently updating the app via the Codeberg Site, but auto-updates would be nicer.

So if I do these steps (click on the search icon, click on all communities and on all communities again) the app closes. I believe that to be a bug, and if itis and it was already reported at codeberg my apologies

Some extra:

• this happens at any page(as long as you follow the procedure)

• And no it doesn't happen when you click to search at communities (like being at Eternity, click search then clicking at search at eternity again)

• Currently it's also happening at the nightly version

Unrelated:can anyone tell me how to post images on lemmy?(multiple ones in sequence)(like without being the same way I just did[the hyperlink]) I think this could be beneficial so the dev (and people)so they don't have to click on links just to see images

So this is an Infinity question, but maybe you guys will know. I have an active theme set up in Infinity (for Reddit), but I think it's not saved? Or maybe it's broken, idk.

There's a theme "nice" under my themes, but when I preview it, that's not what the app looks like. "Nice" is also listed as an active theme for dark and amoled themes, but that's the same thing. And when I export it and import to Eternity, again that's just whatever the nice theme is.

I know I fiddled with the themes years ago and I don't remember how I got the app into this state. Any idea?

(When I apply the nice theme, it changes the look and I don't see a way to get it back except for a complete settings import, which works.)

I don't know if it's an issue on my side, or if it's normal behaviour, but I don't see any indicator telling me that a previously read post has new comments.

Both lemmy-ui and Jerboa give me that information, which is really useful to know when to come back to a post.

Just realised I put this in the old Infinity group. For awkward users like me who self host. If you have a longer domain name it puts it over 2 lines and cuts off. Could this be adjusted?

Just a feature request that is potentially already on the longer list. Some ability to group communities would be great. I follow a lot of communities called "technology" for example across a wide number of instances (this seems to just be the nature of Lemmy). It would be awesome to be able to have them grouped and then just be able to check the top level and see all posts across them. Thanks for the great work this app has made Lemmy a goto news source for me!

I want to filter out hexbear, lemmygrad, and bot-heavy instances like lemmit.online and zerobytes.monster. I have added these in filters under "Exclude domains" but I still see them in All feed. Anyone managed to get this working?

At first I don't understand it, after that I think that is curious that the images where personalized, and then realized that you only used my post for the screen.

This is a gripe I have with a lot of apps. When I get a notification and go to my inbox, click on the reply that someone left me, it doesn't go directly to that reply. It only goes to the main thread and I'd have to scroll all the way down to that comment. And if it's a long thread, then forget it. Could this be implemented?

You may have noticed that Eternity's icon could use a bit of a facelift (I just hacked it together to have something). Well, it's time for a change and I'd like to get all you talented folks involved!

So, I want to host a competition where you can submit your designs for a new app icon. Once we have all the submissions, we can vote as a community to pick our new icon!

Some details to keep in mind:

Deadline: I'll be accepting submissions until the 8th of September, 2023, 18:00 CET. I might extend this deadline if we have too few submissions.

Format: Submissions should be in SVG or PNG format, with a 1:1 aspect ratio.

Resolution: Please ensure your design is at least 512x512 pixels if you're going with PNG.

Monochrome Version (Optional): It'd be great to see a monochrome version of your design too (for Material You icons).

Design: Your design should be colorful, fun, and engaging. The original UFO spaceship could be a source of inspiration, or elements of the fediverse or Lemmy. Of course, if you've got another creative idea, go wild!

Once the submissions close, we'll have a public vote to pick the winner (similar to what we did with the app name).

When creating an image post, the post text is white. It's not like this when creating a text post. I've tried changing a bunch of settings where I'm using white, but I just can't find this one. Any ideas?

if we're sharing themes, here are some gruvbox themes i made for infinity that still work on eternity

edit: unread inbox messages are currently unreadable - i will fix this soon

edit 2: fixed dark mode inbox, also now uses lemmy colours for votes (blue/red, as opposed to orange/blue)

Here is a theme I originally made for Infinity on Reddit, but it seems to work nicely in the app still. It is based on the colors of the Ghibli movie Ponyo, I found a palette on this site and decided to use it for a theme: https://ewenme.github.io/ghibli/

Just wanted to say the banner and logo for this community looks really cool! The app icon also looks really nice, one of the best I've seen!

Hello everyone!

I've just released the first version of Eternity (after changing the name from Infinity for Lemmy). It's been long overdue, but I wanted to finish a few features before this update. This release includes various fixes and new features, such as:

• Blocking users/communities

• List blocked users/communities

• Separate up/down votes (can be disabled in the settings)

• Private messages

• Content reporting

• New themes (including a new default one!)

• Fixed various crashes.

And a huge thank you to everyone who provided feedback, translated the app, or contributed in any form during the testing phases of this release. Your insights and suggestions were invaluable in making Eternity better for all users. I'll continue to gather feedback and make improvements in the coming updates, so please don't hesitate to reach out with any further thoughts or issues you might encounter.
