Im really sorry for spamming this wonderful community, Please don’t be mad at me for wasting space in your thread 🥺

I just wanted to make people aware that I created a Harmreduction community on this instance(!harmreduction@lemmy.blahaj.zone) because I really think its something we need here, many trans people are turning to drugs, personally, I know more friends who are on “hard drugs” than are not, so I wanted to make a space on this instance for people to safely talk about harmreduction, reddit can be quite toxic and I feel the atmosphere here might be alot better and the people giving advice might be alot more informed already.

If you feel you can advice people, need advice or just occasionally enduldge, please join!

Also I am always there for anybody who needs advice, I am an intravenous polydrug user, amateur chemist, know a decent bit about injecting hormones right and even though I have puppy eyes, I don’t bite :)

Lots of love!, Xea

Not LGBTQ+, but saw this and thought it may help some folks. Will take it down if it isn't!

I've got my own takes on this, but I'm curious about y'all's.

I know people hate them and I think they pretend to care about trans people but cause more harm than good? And I think they're related to transmedicalism but I don't know what that is either... Also why does it look/sound like "true scums"?? Do they call themselves that?! X3

(btw I just noticed I can't find this comm at all in Jerboa, the search thingy only shows 10 comms and this one isn't one of them when I search for "trans" :< so I had to go to my profile and find the last post I made here)

The Gender Dysphoria Bible 😉

Also, if you find the information is lacking in certain departments (the original author is transfem so naturally the transman and nonbinary sections aren't as detailed), then change/add to it. The project is OPEN SOURCE, which means if you have valuable information not listed YOU can add it, which helps us all.

The website accepts donations to support the upkeep and creator. If you have the funds, do it!

This has been one of the best resources I've come across, and I know I'm not alone in that thought.

Yes, you. Trans person.

You are doing a lot just by existing. Being trans is hard work. Knowing that there are other people like us out there makes it less isolating. By just existing, you're helping out other trans people around you, be it closeted or out.

I'll make you a deal: I'll keep existing and you'll keep existing. Now we both know there's at least someone out there like us. Things are gonna be okay.

Just keep doing what you're doing. Exist in this world as a trans person. You've got this.

What was your funniest pre-cracking sign, if you had any? I was just thinking back to when I was learning to femininize my voice because it would be funny if people thought I was a girl, but then never intended to reveal "what I really was", lol. I'd love to hear all of your stories!

I figured it would be a cool idea to share this here :3 I've been watching this playlist and I feel like I learn a lot with every video so I definetly recommend it for trans girls or femboys or enbies or whatevs :3 And so far it doesn't seem like exclusively feminine so I guess someone looking for a masculine voice could learn from TransVoiceLessons too, she also has more vids out of this playlist

Thanks to @miss_brainfarts@lemmy.blahaj.zone for being so awesome and sharing this with me ^-^

Highly recommend reading the article, as you may find that it articulates your experiences well. Below is my commentary:

"If your brain is wired for one kind of gonadal hormones (such as testosterone) and your body produces the other hormone (such as estradiol), this can result in a biochemical malfunction within your brain chemistry. This produces a sort of brain fog: a reduction in mental capacity and a general state of anxiety and unease. This is the source of the first two symptoms that often alleviate with medical hormonal therapy: depersonalization and derealization (DPDR)."

I experienced exactly this, and yet it is not often talked about. I didn't know what was going on. Sure, it was gender dysphoria, but it seeps into many faucets of life that appear unrelated at first glance.

"Sometimes you will hear naysayers suggesting that taking hormone therapy always improves mental health. I heard this myself when I came out to my mother. “Estrogen makes everyone happier.” This is flat out false. When cis people are put on cross-hormone therapy it always results in dysphoria. This is one reason why Spironolactone is rarely ever prescribed to men, because the anti-androgen factor causes mental instability. Five to ten percent of cis women suffer from polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a condition which causes the ovaries to produce testosterone instead of estrogen. Ask any one of them how their mental health has been, and they will give you an earful."

I had to take an estrogen based medication due to a medical condition for a while, and I had horrible side effects in the first two weeks. My brain was in a fog, depression significantly worsened, and I wanted to do absolutely nothing all day. I had these symptoms since first puberty, and they varied depending on the time of the month, but with the synthetic estrogen I was taking I felt an immediate difference. I swore up and down for years that I could "feel" estrogen levels depending on the phase of my monthly cycle (it was a shitty feeling), and nobody believed me. Taking that medication felt exactly the same, meaning I was right.

Eventually, it all evened out as my body adapted to the levels, and my body was back to "normal" again.

Normal was a constant cloud of depression, anxiety, and a feeling of a heavy weight on my brain. I have been on about a dozen anti depressants since first puberty, and none of them made a significant difference in my life.

I started testosterone about a month ago. Within two weeks my brain felt like that weight was lifted off of it, and my depression nearly evaporated (though now I am more aware of how much anxiety I have. That hasn't changed much.). I feel normal for the first time since childhood. I get sad sometimes, I get mad sometimes, all that stuff, but that cloud that used to hang over my head is gone. After a month of testosterone, nearly a decade of that constant cloud evaporated.

I am a firm believer in the theory that some brains are wired for specific hormones. My experience is proof of that. Testosterone did what years of antidepressants couldn't. It's not a cure-all and I still have my own problems, but it is a significant improvement from before. Biochemical dysphoria needs to be more widely discussed in the trans community.

I posted about my experience on the FTM community, but I am curious to hear from as many people as possible about their experiences with this.

This is going to be a general Trans community, akin to that of r/trans on Reddit. Follow all general Blahaj rules. Only rule here is the post must be trans-related. We can discuss additional rules if necessary.

I'm taking suggestions of things to add to the community such as the sidebar, banner, icon, etc. Comment down below. I'm new to modding.
