On some of my older DVDs, there is some kind of odd trace around the edge of the disc... you can see it in the image where the light is reflected. I can wipe it off, but it's really sticky and takes some time to clean up. More sticky residue is all over the disc, so the trace only seems to be some accumulation of stuff that's all over the bottom side. Best thing that worked so far was soap and water and a bit of patience. Any idea what this is and how to prevent this for my other discs? Or is it a known issue for some weird kind of disc? Discs obviously don't work until they are cleaned.

Got this quote directly from Wiki based on Joseph "Donnie Brasco" Pistone. My quesstion is, isn't mafia job a crime? Yet the FBI knew the ones involved (they certainly knew if they visited them) and didn't do anything about it (like arresting them, surely mafias did crimes right?), only going to persuade them from killing Joseph.

You can see Paul Castellano, named cleanly and clearly, yet I dont find any charges against him (at least, for putting a bounty on someone's head). It's as if maybe they had a treaty with the Police at the time.. Or the police had lack of substantial evidence of their activities to prosecute? I'm not an American so I'm still lacking much info on this, please help me out. Thanks!

The film quickly became an "Instant Classic" when it was first released over eighty-five years ago and now returns newly remastered with extraordinary picture and sound and includes new bonus content.

Gone with the Wind received 10 Academy Awards© including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Actress, and Best Supporting Actress. It remains history's all-time domestic box-office champion (adjusted for inflation) with more tickets sold than any other film. In 1989 the Library of Congress selected the film for its inaugural list for preservation in the United States National Film Registry.

Gone with the Wind will be available to purchase on 4K Blu-ray Disc online and in-store at major retailers and available for purchase Digitally from Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, Google TV, Fandango and more. Three versions of the 4K Blu-ray disc will be available for purchase: the standard 4K Blu-ray, a 4K Blu-ray SteelBook, and a special collector's edition available exclusively at Walmart.com. Pre-orders for the collector's edition begin on Tuesday, July 14.

WaterTower Music will release the film's score on vinyl on this fall. This re-pressing of the record is the first time the score has been released in over forty years.

I see lots of reissues of horror films on Blu-ray from Spain on eBay. Are these bootlegs?

With streaming enshittification, I have gone back to purchasing blu-rays and dvds, ripping them, and putting them on my jellyfin server.

Why isn't there a service like musicbrainz but for video discs? This would be especially helpful for TV shows, where the order of the episodes is inconsistent on disc, and I typically have to manually go through each episode to make sure it is named correctly.

But even for movies where you have multiple versions (theatrical vs extended cut) or extras, it is a huge pain to have to go through each extracted file and figure out what it is.

How does every one else deal with this?

I have a collection of around 200 movies on DVD/Blurays that I’ve ripped with MakeMKV.

Wether I watch these on my Htpc with Kodi or on my Playstation 5, there are less fluid/smooth than when I watch Netflix on my TV.

As if the movies were 24/25 fps on dics and 60fps on Netflix.

And I have the same motion settings for all sources, but Netflix is still smoother without having too much of a sitcom effect. Am I the only one noticing this and how do they do this? I haven’t found anything on the web about this..

Edit: Solved. It turned out that Wayland wasn’t allowing Kodi to adjust the display refresh rate. Switching to LibreELEC instead of PopOS solved the issue.

It should be written in Kodi’s wiki that Wayland doesn’t allow the refresh rate to be adjusted to the content.

Maybe not the best in quality but it works, if you are on a budget there are many in the second hand market, they are usually in good condition. You have to log with a Microsoft account to install the bluray app.
