Shocked honestly. How many terror groups are they going to leave behind?

[-] yogthos@lemmygrad.ml 41 points 6 months ago

This is a clear indication of just how thinly stretched the burger empire is at this point.

[-] Drstrange2love@lemmygrad.ml 34 points 6 months ago

They are not able to maintain all their fronts, especially with Ukraine and Israel, it requires a lot of military, financial, intelligence and political resources to maintain. And it's a double-edged sword, the more they try to maintain it, the more things get worse on the domestic front.

[-] freagle@lemmygrad.ml 23 points 6 months ago

Also, AFRICOM is still not fully established and the Axis of Resistance is making moves now before it gets fully established. It's the weakest dimension of the empire.

[-] GlueBear@lemmygrad.ml 17 points 6 months ago

What makes you say that? Is Africa really still in Europe's hands?

[-] PanArab@lemmygrad.ml 22 points 6 months ago

France is losing its grip

[-] tacosanonymous@lemm.ee 16 points 6 months ago

The article mentions at least one.

"The old world is dying, and the new world struggles to be born: now is the time of monsters." - gramsci

Hope the people of Africa are sufficiently organized to take this opportunity and run away with it, this seriously could turn into a chain reaction.

I'm guessing between Israel and Ukraine, US is starting to have to cut losses.

[-] GlueBear@lemmygrad.ml 27 points 6 months ago

How long do you reckon it will take before we see the west try to (fruitlessly) regain control over Africa again?

Will we have to wait until the failure of the ME project or will it come with the failure of Ukraine?

[-] yogthos@lemmygrad.ml 37 points 6 months ago

I think that ship might've sailed at this point. The west is going into an economic decline, and Africa is developing rapidly. I don't think there will ever be such a disparity in power between the west and Africa that would allow the west to recolonize going forward.

[-] PanArab@lemmygrad.ml 26 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

To Africa's advantage it is young and hungry, while the West is ageing and obese.

yeah but much of the calories are in the form of microplastics

[-] SadArtemis@lemmygrad.ml 18 points 6 months ago

Personally I think the west is going to try all the same. And it'll go about as terribly as can be expected, especially with Russia returning to its anti-colonial legacy.

It can be delayed, and perhaps (depending on circumstance) should be, but IMO the imperialists will not go out without trying to take the world down with them. It's not in their nature, the nature of their ideologies, institutions, etc.

[-] halfpipe@hexbear.net 17 points 6 months ago

It's going to try, but it's not 1992 anymore, there are other centers of power and financing in the world.

[-] yogthos@lemmygrad.ml 16 points 6 months ago

That's my biggest worry as well, these people are very much starting a nuclear holocaust once they realize their time as the hegemon is over.

[-] freagle@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 6 months ago

I don't think they have seen anything over the event horizon either. They can't make legitimate strategy that involves nuclear annihilation. The risk comes from the fanatics they are cultivating.

The solution will be the same thing that will prevent the USA from being successful in large scale invasion, domestic rebellion. There will not be enough soldiers to fight, there are people who will fight the fanatics to stop a launch. It's tenuous, but it's what's going to happen and when you consider the circumstances, it's the only way it can happen. The empire has to eat itself.

[-] yogthos@lemmygrad.ml 4 points 6 months ago

US sliding into civil unrest before it's able to start a world war is a very plausible scenario.

Blinken in meetings with African nations pretty much admits that the US is too stretched to focus much on Africa. I remember him saying stuff along those lines when the Tigray stuff in Ethiopia started happening.

[-] PolandIsAStateOfMind@lemmygrad.ml 9 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

He blinken and Africa decolonised

[-] redtea@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 6 months ago

This marks the era of appropriately named US politicians.

[-] RedColossus@lemmygrad.ml 7 points 6 months ago

That’s what it’s looking like, if things escalate with Iran, the US will have to make some pact with Russia.

[-] TeezyZeezy@lemmygrad.ml 4 points 6 months ago

Yessss I was waiting for someone to confirm that <3 get fucked empire

[-] Mzuark@lemmygrad.ml 33 points 6 months ago

I feel like the fact that we have troops stationed all over Africa and no one ever mentions it until they leave is concerning.

[-] yogthos@lemmygrad.ml 28 points 6 months ago

the whole fact that it's just accepted that US plays world police is creepy af to me

[-] redtea@lemmygrad.ml 6 points 6 months ago

Scary as fuck to most of the planet. The scarier thing is that it's not just USians who look at you gone out if you question it. That shit runs far and wide. Truly the diarrhea of propaganda.

I wouldn't really use the word "agrees" to be honest. It's a great thing, undoubtedly, but I think they wouldn't do this if they weren't de facto forced to because they're stretched so unimaginably thin. This country truly is on the brink.

[-] yogthos@lemmygrad.ml 6 points 6 months ago

yeah more like forced to
