Unfortunately, due to ASUS being based in China, we are unlikely to get a response until next week.

Even responses are late. Maybe Asus is using the snail mail for everything. They are going to sending floppy disks with the unlocker next month.

Or because anyone in China working normal hours already left for the weekend because they're 12+ hours ahead of the US.

So, Taiwan is now China for Android Authority? Good to know, another one to ignore and not visit anymore...

Guys how do i sue asus? Also where would i sue? I bought the phone in ireland but live in sweden. I think if enough people sue they gotta do something about it right?

I wonder what their motivation for disabling the unlock tool is. It seems unlikely that will increase profits and it's likely to cost a handful of sales (I'm one of them).

Their initial post and article about this move on the forums was citing security concerns which is baffling especially given how short their support windows are for their devices.

[-] Zak@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago

"Security concerns" is so vague as to be meaningless, so I remain puzzled.

Hopefully others are able to get a refund and Asus reverts back to their original position. I got a nothing phone 2 instead of a zenfone 10 which I really wanted because I heard of the news about the reneg before I was able to make a purchase.
