If you have trouble setting controller bindings within SteamVR you can point your browser to localhost:27062/dashboard/controllerbinding.html to set your controller settings.

Pop OS 22.04 (Ubuntu) Very playable on both a NVIDIA GTX 970 and GTX 3060.

Steam has been undergoing many changes lately, things may break in the future, try switching between beta and non beta if things dont work, this works for me as of July 13th 2023. I will keep this thread up to date as i use VR on Linux

I'm relatively newish to Linux and have come to notice that system packages run better for me than Flatpacks a lot of the time.

I tried alvr last week with my pico 4 and the bitrate was horrible on high preset, latency very high and colors were different. I guess it's because I have amd gpu.

I tried alvr with my pico4 on my rtx3070 with a dedicated router for vr. The bitrate was horrible and had quite bad latency. I need to try alvr on windows to see if it is a Linux issue. Think i managed to get it down to 80ms latency but it still looked awful. For context I normally use virtual desktop high settings with like 30ms latency.

Been trying to get this running for a few days now with quest 2 on pop OS 22.04 as well but with a 3080. Unfortunately I'm still getting error 307 steamvr fail with this on both normal and beta steamvr. ALVR connects and disconnects constantly at the pairing screen for me saying the connection was refused as it was already in use.

As Steam keeps breaking things for Linux(all for their stupid chromium UI overhaul) its been really hard to use VR unfortunatly.

Last resort: Try uninstalling steam and delete all steam related files(except the folder with all you downloaded games), delete all Steam and VR related files in .config and .local. This is as much of a fresh start as you can get and it should work. Use latest ALVR nightly.
