I wouldn't be surprised the reason the address wasn't redacted is because he had AI make the post too.

Just a genius doing genius things…

Honestly, people that rich don't need to be worrying about their home address being public. Hell, we all used to have the addresses of everyone in town delivered to our front door. It was called the White/Yellow pages.

For people this rich, there's really no danger of their home address being public. Their homes have extensive security guards and tall fences. The address of someone like a twitch streamer getting doxed is a big deal. They're mostly just ordinary people that happen to have a very public job. If you're an average person without a security detail, having your address public means some rando could show up at your front door. For a billionaire, having your address leaked just gets added to the threat profile of your security team.

That's not his home address. But news about his home in the area has made it to the news in recent years due to a dispute he had with the city, and since it ended up going to public hearings there was a public notification requirement regarding the address.

Elon Musk is the personification of a moron’s hallucination of a genius.

[–] StupidBrotherInLaw@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

From Zillow: This 6934 square foot single family home has 6 bedrooms and 7.0 bathrooms.

Fucking hell. That's nearly 650 square meters, larger than every home I've ever lived in combined.

[–] dream_weasel@sh.itjust.works 5 points 3 hours ago

It's still not obscenely huge like some mansions are. That's a time and a half the size of the biggest house in my neighborhood, and I don't live in a huge city. It seems like a lot of bathrooms though for the size...

[–] LodeMike@lemmy.today 1 points 3 hours ago

Oh nooooooooooo

[–] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world 16 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

It would be really wrong to send him dildos.

So totally don't do it.

[–] Raiderkev@lemmy.world 1 points 21 minutes ago

Shipadick.com would be a terrible site to visit. Don't do that.

[–] 1hitsong@lemmy.ml 59 points 11 hours ago

Fake!!!

That order details page says he paid tax. 😆

Works fine if you never have to worry about your credit card bill.

Does this even appeal to anyone? "We can automate the only part of consumer capitalism that's any fun?" Seriously?

Billionaires have so much money they literally can't spend it all. A bot could blow $100K on their behalf and they could laugh it off as a funny story.

They've worked very hard to divorce their fate from the fate of the general public, that has worked, and it shows in ways they don't even perceive anymore. They don't have any reason to look for good deals. This is strictly an imaginary scenario for little people, from their point of view.

[–] yucandu@lemmy.world 48 points 13 hours ago (3 children)

"Your computer has detected your credit card and is automatically purchasing items it thinks you need" was a very old Dilbert comic strip.

Yeah, if he's buying them for his kids, chances are that he doesn't live there.

Took me way too long to “see what you did there”

[–] saltesc@lemmy.world 71 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

Imagine being one of the kids and seeing this is how your gift was done.

But at least you're in daddy's Top 5 of that 14.

[–] frunch@lemmy.world 27 points 13 hours ago

Exactly what i was thinking!

"Hey kids, have some random shit some algorithm thought you might desire. Best dad ever, amirite?"

Showcasing his blatant disregard for his progeny in front of millions of people while trying to hype his latest stupid tech. It's really no wonder this guy's this richest person on the planet, just galaxy-brain shit 🤯

incognito69420@mail.grokbot.com what a fucking loser.

I now guarantee he uses 69420 as his numeric identifier in everything. He’s exactly that type of infantile teenage douche.

[–] loutr@sh.itjust.works 26 points 9 hours ago

incognito

uses his real name and address and broadcasts the whole thing to the entire internet

Truly a Tony Stark-level genius.

[–] Mwa@thelemmy.club 4 points 7 hours ago

atleast he is not using "67"

[–] moonshadow@slrpnk.net 20 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Hey. Do NOT let Elon have the funny numbers. They're mine, you joyless dweeb! 69 420 1312 666 1337 5318008 <-- this is where I keep them, feel free to borrow a couple or share more

People still pretend that this man is actually intelligent. What he is is just really, really good at taking credit for other people's ideas and being very confidently incorrect.

I hope someone uses the information above for good one day.

Just another narcissist. They tend to be dumb because they think they know everything and rarely learn new things.

I wouldn't expect the home address of anyone famous to be all that hard to find with a little effort.

[–] holy_scroller@lemmy.zip 47 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

The most ridiculous part is expecting someone to ask AI to spend hundreds of dollars on their behalf with zero supervision. You have to truly be in the top .3% for that to be a consideration.

[–] davad@lemmy.world 28 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

So...a "fun" reminder about the wealth gap. If you're in the top 0.1% of wealth in the US, you're still closer to homeless than you are to the billionaire+ class.

A source I found puts the top 0.1% at $64 million net worth (link) And the difference between 64 million and a billion is about a billion.

I love you for this

Everyone in Austin knows where this house is. All his neighbors have beef with what he's done there and it's been in the news. I doubt he ever goes there based on what I've read.

(Technically it's in Westlake, which is a wealthy, white suburb that incorporated itself decades ago to avoid being annexed by the city of Austin. A lot of "fiscal conservatives" there.)
