People have started calling the 20^th^ century the “nineteen hundreds,” and I’m still not okay with it.

"Well kiddos, back in the nineteen hundreds, things were done a bit differently”
I think I'm good with the nineteen hundreds.

We can always say “back in the second millennium”.
I think I’m good with the nineteen hundreds.
the fresh grads we just hired are giving me senior moments and it made me feel this way when they referred to it like this. lol
I've been saying "late 20th century classics" for overplayed rock music
Shit like that can't be planned. It either catches on or it doesn't.
Why do you want to make it cooler? Why polish this turd?
People already refer to the 2010s as "the tens" so I imagine sometime between 2030 and 2035 people will start calling the 2020s "the twenties"
This all day. Have to get to the next decade to start having "the 20's" replace the 1920's in references to history. Only other way was for people talking about future tense of things to come. Young Gen Z and Gen Alpha will have the easiest time in just thinking of this decade as "the 20's" since they haven't been around for last century.
Nothing cool about this decade.
The end times.
I guess we could do it once nobody born in the 20s is alive anymore. There are people alive as old as 117, although obviously this is an outlier. I wonder what % of people born prior to 1930 are still alive?
Meh, I'll start with the '30s. I feel we need a little more buffer from the late 1900s.
I still keep forgetting it's a quarter of the way into the 21st century already. I keep thinking it's still like 2002 or something. I think we need to get away from all the 2's in the dates before I'll start to recognize the new century as independent from the 20th century.
Fair, the past two decades just don't have the same "ring" as "the 20's" or any of the next ones. I still remember people realizing that they never really knew what the "20's/30's/etc" naming for the first decade of the 1900's after the 90's ended. I feel like local news and other media made points to tell people "the noughties/oughts". So much attention really put on the simple shortening of everything after "20's" last century. Even "the teens" just doesn't have the same "ring" to it, and since 10-12 aren't "teens".
I'll start. The 20s fucking suck
After the financial collapse.
Which sucks since the 20's haven't been "roaring" economically. Though maybe media will still try to make "the roaring 20's" a thing by talking about how mad people have been.
My mom was born in the 20s and so as long as she is around and others like her it seems premature. So give it at least another decade probably two.
Now that I think about it, everyone I knew who was born in the 20s is dead.
Yes. My mom is 97 and her health is such she will probably make 102. Humans have been known to live a bit over 122 though rare.
I already do this at every opportunity!
You should watch SPARKLE ON RAVEN: The Life of DrillGirl; it is a very good show. {Cēterum|Furthermore} {cēnseō|I think} {iūs auctōris|copyright} {esse dēlendum|must be destroyed}.
