We are cooked in Mexico too, i've seen first-hand the growth of these pentecostal churches in the countryside.

Maybe reviving the Maximato would make wonders against these prosperity gospel cultists.
Yeah, the atheism-turned-socialist YouTuber Genetically Modified Skeptic made a great video on the subject: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hePRA9yVdQE
I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:
Good share
It was the perfect capitalist Trojan horse, because it convinced people to stop thinking of progress as a shared national endeavor and instead view it as an individual responsibility—which meant they didn’t need to organize into pressure groups, political movements, labor unions, student unions, or any other collectivist entity that the U.S. government considered “leftist” or “communist.” It was a resounding success and turned the world’s poorest people—in sub-Saharan Africa—into rabid, money-obsessed capitalists, albeit without capital.
Yup and enough of them saw material reward to back that ideology up. Take away that material and that ideological leverage then goes away with it. But that would require effective authority against it and the limitations of such freedoms (good!). If liberation theology is the way forward then it needs to develop the lines to counter the above (eg shia islam was able to do it to some extent in Iran and Yemen) - it cannot be passive in the face of imperialism and equivocate because of the secular lines it sees in the USSR/PRC etc
Although a lot of people are blaming evangelicals, I came to stress here that Lula made a very shitty government, running on the program of Brazilian financial sector. After four years of austerity measures, and ruining opportunities to approve popular laws like the end of the 6x1 work schedule, it's no surprise that Lula's government is weak.
Lula made a very shitty government
Anti-marxism-leninism / anti-USSR / "anti-stalin" has only one destination in the end: fascism. If they want to crocodile-cry "authoritarianism" and then cede the ground to the authority of capital and fascists then they are either incomptetent, malicious or both.
Although a lot of people are blaming evangelicals, I came to stress here...
💯
Folks need to internalise that the material always comes before the ideological. CIA and their willing compradors have no weapon through imperialist versions of religion if the material conditions provides immunity against it. I would even say these malignancies would have grown even without western intelligence help.

I often get the sense that the autodynamism of dialectical materialism is severely understudied and undervalued in the West.
It's important to remember that while the clergy has some political power, we should always also focus on what we are not accomplishing as a communist movement and why
Is Lula even worthy of being called a reformist? I'm curious. I know almost nothing about Brazilian politics. I just know Bolsonaro is shit and Lula has gotten some praise in some left-ish circles in the past but seems to pan out as socdem at best?
Well, some people would say Lula is a social liberal at best. The Workers' party, though, used to be quite diverse, with different caucuses and militant groups. However, ever since Lula became president, the new left (neoliberal) group took over and every year the party turned right at every new presidential election. WP militancy also became very depoliticized and turned into a Lula's personality cult.
I've heard him called a "Statist" which I think is very apt in the wrong ways. His central policies are just the peaceful maintenance of bourgeois state institutions and remaining social programs, but without even proposing reforms. It's stagnation as ideology.
Lula was a socdem from the beginning and Brazilians comrades were critical of him. Especially since the all of the Brazilian Left had to swear allegiance to the PT. He also screwed over Maduro and blocked Venezuela’s ascension.
BUT he is the lesser evil and Brazil is one of the major powers of the global south - the literal first acronym in BRICS - which Lula aligned with. Bolsonaro Jr is likely to cut ties and subordinate nearly 200 million people to the Imperial Central itself. Further isolating Cuba, Nicaragua and to an extend Venezuela and Mexico who both now have to walk on eggshells.
This is definitely a major blow for China and the Free Peoples of the World.
Abolish religious tax exemptions. A church is a theater that performs readings of folklore and should be taxed accordingly.
More often it erases very much that folklore you mentioned.
It's such a stark difference reading the complex debates in the Soviet Union and then seeing someone vote for a certain candidate because their pastor told them to.
It's in all christian countries i think. In Poland elections are always on sunday and you can observe crowds of people going voting straight from church after sunday mass.
There is reason the Soviets had major heat for religion.
Evangelicalism 🤝 Zionism
Being fronts for Western Imperialism

religion needs to go
I did a "one minute google search" and all I found was a wiki of a person called Enoch Adeboye and that he “obtained a Master's degree in Hydrodynamics from University of Lagos, and in 1975, he obtained a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Lagos.” He’s now a very popular preacher of the prosperity gospel in Nigeria.
It’s odd that such an intelligent man would become a preacher. But whatever. i am making this comment because it shows that education, by itself, doesn’t mean that a person will be useful for the cause of communism or that universities automatically molds people into principled leftists. University educated students can easily become traitors to their class and turn against the interests of the majority. My comment is a little off topic, IK..
Universities literally exist (and were created) to reproduce the elite and Imperial-essential maintenance drones. Not to produce revolutionaries.
All the leftist stuff is either pacified forms such as Trotskyism or bogus half-butchered dialectical materialism or just incidental.
Remember that not everyone can afford university in say Nigeria for example.
It's entirely possible that he's a swindling charlatan
In evolution, intelligent is adaptation. For an individual of a species, that means it's easier to adapt by changing to accommodate the environment.
