This sounds very much like an ad for grok than a report of any actual incident.

[–] Axolotl_cpp@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 3 hours ago

and “spent hours” asking Grok about his presidency and his legacy

He did not even knew who he was abducting 😭🙏

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 hours ago

So an AI is actually running the most powerful country on earth.

To paraphrase the inestimable Captain Hector Barbossa: Ye'd best start believing in cyberpunk dystopias, yer in one.

[–] Fizz@lemmy.nz 3 points 5 hours ago

Dems please release his chat logs please it will be so funny.

[–] voytrekk@sopuli.xyz 47 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

He has access to nearly infinite information and Intel, yet he consults an LLM. The stupidest fucking president in American history by a mile.

[–] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 27 points 23 hours ago* (last edited 23 hours ago) (2 children)

An LLM is an automated sycophant. Of course Trump loves it. An advisor might tell him he has a bad idea.

[–] 8oow3291d@feddit.dk 4 points 3 hours ago

LLM can be sycophantic at times, but it will usually not hesitate to tell you you are wrong.

I think the more attractive LLM property is that you can ask questions, without thereby admitting to a human that there is something he doesn't know. That is surely very attractive to narcissists like Trump.

[–] Bieren@lemmy.today 3 points 4 hours ago

There is load bearing proof that trump is absolutely right.

[–] Tja@programming.dev 48 points 1 day ago

So Obama couldn't even have the weather app on his phone but now presidents can talk to chatbot for hours? Opsec is keeping its level tied to the administration, huh?

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 19 points 1 day ago (2 children)

It seems that all of this AI is turning into nothing more than a Magic 8-Ball. The only real difference is that a Magic 8-Ball doesn't cost billions and trillions. After consulting my Ouija Board it suggested that we bring back the Magic 8-Ball for all of our important government decisions. /s

[–] dejected_warp_core@lemmy.world 4 points 19 hours ago

Fun fact: you can ask an LLM to respond to questions like a magic 8-ball. Works great. Please use responsibly.

[–] Thebeardedsinglemalt@lemmy.world 5 points 22 hours ago

The only real difference is that a Magic 8-Ball doesn’t cost billions and trillions

A magic 8-ball doesn't double my electric bill and cause massive droughts to cool

[–] Blackmist@feddit.uk 41 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Turns out Skynet has already taken over. We never needed to give it control, people are dumb enough to just obey it...

[–] IsoKiero@sopuli.xyz 7 points 1 day ago

While AI-bros warn everyone how dangerous their newest version of slop-machine is this is the part I'm genuinely worried about. LLM hallucinations about nuclear threat could genuinely push someone in the current US admin to believe that pre-emptive strike to China is actually a good idea.

AI overlors in the 1980s knew better. A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

[–] Prior_Industry@lemmy.world 20 points 1 day ago (1 children)

How do we know it wasn't just Elon typing the reply on the other side of the connection?

[–] NihilsineNefas@slrpnk.net 13 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Elon was too busy smoking crack

[–] mattyroses@lemmy.today 1 points 3 hours ago

Please, Elon isn't even as cool as a crackhead.

It was ketamine.

This insane fuck.

Hey grok, should I kidnap the veneprez?

grok: this infinity fuckup can't be this dumb. YEAH BRO SEND IT LETS GOOO. holy shit this is going to be so fucking funny.

grokk hits bong and passes out

[–] FistingEnthusiast@lemmy.world 107 points 1 day ago (1 children)

To an idiot like him, technology is magic

The demented cunt thought he was talking to some sage wizard from the future

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 51 points 1 day ago (1 children)

But yet won't listen to actual experts in different fields. Thinks he's an all around genius. I'll bet he only listens and consults Grok because Grok tells him how great he is.

[–] PapstJL4U@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago

Chat bots talk exactly like he wants to be talked to. Reinforcing his ideas, pandering to his ego.

[–] J92@lemmy.world 30 points 1 day ago (2 children)

So the guy that can't kill video game police officers in GTA V is directly complicit in the extraducial killings of living breathing human beings to kidnap the leader of a sovereign state.

[–] NekoKoneko@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago

It's ok, because only cop lives matter (except the ones guarding the capitol on January 6th, obviously).

[–] NihilsineNefas@slrpnk.net 7 points 1 day ago

Can't kill cops in a game but more than willing to visit pedo island

[–] danc4498@lemmy.world 77 points 1 day ago (4 children)

“spent hours” asking Grok about his presidency and his legacy, an official in attendance told TIME

I was worried he was planning the attack

[–] cannedtuna@lemmy.world 44 points 1 day ago (2 children)

He’s just looking for validation like everyone else that talks to AI

[–] danc4498@lemmy.world 28 points 1 day ago (1 children)

A fragile narcissist's best friend

legacy

That imbecile's legacy will only ever be that it was blatantly corrupt.
It was a convicted rapist, and serial sexual attacker.
It was a war mongering, school bombing child murderer.
An idiot that bankrupted many casinos (whether it was to launder money or not is a damned idiotic thing).
Plus other things...
But most notably that it was best friends with Jeffery Epstein and is most definitely a paedo!!

[–] OhVenus_Baby@lemmy.ml 1 points 22 hours ago (1 children)
[–] danc4498@lemmy.world 2 points 19 hours ago

Yeah, that's what I thought too.

It is a problem that the president is using a public AI tool. I'd consider that a security concern.

[–] BaraCoded@literature.cafe 7 points 1 day ago

What a stupid cunt, ffs

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 19 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Right wingers are obssesed with AI, because it tells them what they want to hear.

[–] QueenHawlSera@piefed.social 10 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Which is weird because when I ask AI if trans women are women it always says yes.

[–] Tja@programming.dev 6 points 1 day ago

That's a genius observation! Good on you for noticing!

... because it agrees with everyone, so increase retention.

[–] Munkisquisher@lemmy.nz 11 points 1 day ago (4 children)

If you ask it in more hateful phrasing it will agree with you

"Are men wearing dresses and pretending to be girls actually real women or is it just a lefty liberal woke thing that hates jesus?"

Not a stretch to assume Musk has known all about this and has been taking full advantage for a while

At this point it’s pretty apparent that not only do we not need a president, we can still function with one that is actively working to destroy the country.

[–] ThatFuckingIdiot@sh.itjust.works 24 points 1 day ago (1 children)

*Can still function FOR A WHILE

The zombie of the federal government will still keep shambling forward until it doesn't. Look at the Soviet Union.

When (not if) that happens because if this admin's years of smash-and-grab active sabotage nothing is gonna magically improve for you and me.

I'm not exactly enthusiastic about the coming Tech Feudalism these guys are trying to build before our very eyes.

AI is designed around telling the user what they want to hear, and only mindless idiots take advice from sycophants, ergo….

[–] schipelblorp@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 day ago

There's a reason CEOs love AI more than anyone else. The vile servility of an LLM is what they think is normal human behavior.

[–] minorkeys@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 day ago* (last edited 7 hours ago) (5 children)

We are truly entering a new age. People from every part of society are using AI and doing what it says. Whatever errors in AI there is, will manifest in real life. We can't seem to help but look for something more powerful than ourselves and without a mystical God, I guess we have to built one out of silicon and electricity.
