Plug in external monitor and pipe audio to it

Open YouTube

Nothing works on any browser until I reboot. Fuck this shit

It is sad to think that the last properly good OS from Apple was Snow Leopard. I do still miss it.

El Capitan was a half decent OS too — it just had the downside that it had already been App Stored / signature locked / iPhoneized.

Worth noting that 10.6.7 was the last good OS; 10.6.8 contained the App Store update and was signature locked.

I’ve just felt that I’ve had to learn the OSes in a different way after they released Mavericks. I get that it comes from starting using Mac in the cat era, but it’s annoying to feel you need to learn a new OS every time you update instead of just using it naturally.

First Mac OS I learned was System 4; back then, you’d be learning new ways of doing things multiple times a year.

It’s nice knowing I’m not the oldest person here

The thing i hate most in Tahoe is that you can't really have a large folder of photos as a desktop slideshow anymore, because the OS caches the entire folder...and makes it so the slideshow cache can potentially fill your whole hard drive.

I used to love having my photo desktop change, but now i can't use it at all. I was hoping they would fix it, but it doesn't seem like that's going to happen.

Quick, rush out another new OS by next September!

And make the icons even more bland and generic!

Yet transparent

I really wish they would stop the yearly updates, iOS as well. Just as I get the current version figured out it is time to update and learn new stuff.

Waiting for them to do better than Mojave.

Yeah Catalina was the first on a long path of missteps

I have never been able to keep track of the names... i know the OS numbers. I am still on 18 with my MBP. I considered updating to 26, but misplaced my backup drive so I put that off.

Mojave is 10.14, eight years old. Before the first of two unnecessary version number shifts.

I think that is the version my MacBook Air shipped with in 2018. Maybe it was 10.13 and updated to 10.14 right after I got the MBA.

I was also hoping for a bug fix release instead of more features. I only got the Dock icon bug by now. And AirDrop is broken but only between my iPad and my MacBook (yes I tried rebooting) I really hope they did not start vibe coding in the OS code. Now that they can remove the old Intel code it should get smaller and faster but I did not really feel that by now.

lol I love how people complain about Apple in a sub for enthusiasts

[–] somebody_to_love@lemmy.today 9 points 1 day ago

Complaining means we care and we want Apple to do better.

For a bug fix release it’s pretty bad. Hopefully the point updates will improve it. Snow leopard wasn’t great until the later point releases.

apple doesn't deserve enthusiasm of anyone
