Please don't, just let it be dead. The last revival sucked the next one probably will too. Just let people keep their good memories instead of turning it into another simpsons.

[–] thejoker954@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

I say just do some occasional specials and/or movies.

[–] ThePantser@sh.itjust.works 30 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Simpsons hasn't been canceled nearly the same number of times. Futurama is the zombie that won't stay down.

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 56 points 3 days ago (2 children)

The irony is that The Simpsons is the one that should be canceled.

[–] hypnicjerk@piefed.social 4 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Simpsons the show i imagine basically only exists in the modern era to sell merch because its early exposure made it such a strong international brand

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 5 points 3 days ago (6 children)

simpsons, they are milking a dead horse to the point its just ahusk. thats what became of SUpernatural too, shouldve ended in season 5, they just milked it with gay fanfiction for another 10 seasons.

Futurama hasn't declined anywhere near as badly.

[–] DrPop@lemmy.world 15 points 3 days ago (1 children)

All i can remember about the last season is Kif and Amy have the kids now, there was an NFT episode, and there was an episode that looks like Tintin. I usually can remember the plot and character growth.

[–] zaphod@sopuli.xyz 11 points 3 days ago (1 children)

They tried so much to do "current thing" but with things from a few years ago that it felt completely irrelevant, it wasn't just NFTs.

[–] pHr34kY@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago

If they want to do "current thing", they have to move like South Park and throw half the episode together a week before it airs.

The good news with all of the series finales for Futurama is eventually you can hit your personal finale

For me it's the fractal of them zooming in and out of the simulations, and slowing down a simulation so far that it feels like to the people observing the simulation that the simulation has stopped, however for the people in the simulation it feels as if their timeline is running exactly the same as always. Everyone's sad to see it end, but Fry and Leela recognize instantly that for the people within the simulation that the stories never end.

IMO it was the perfect ending and I refuse on rewatch to watch past that

Half the people in this thread don't know what the fuck they're talking about.

The last two seasons had some of the best episodes of the entire show.

Take your nostalgia goggles off and just enjoy things, twats.

Edit: the fact that this got 20 upvotes should maybe clue you into the fact that the new content is worth your time.

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 12 points 3 days ago (3 children)

They opened the new series with covid and bitcoin jokes like 4 years after those were relevant…

White Hole and Murderoni were great, but I think the jokes are reliably good throughout most episodes of the last two seasons.

[–] OnyxRex@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 days ago

right below this is a comment begging them to stop with over 100 upvotes. The time-loop ending was perfect. It was them getting to take a bow. Maybe I've changed. That's fine. Other's can keep watching but I finished with Futurama. They told their stories. Fry and Leela got together, Kiff and Amy have kids etc.

Going back now is like trying to reconnect with the people you were friends with in college and finding that you don't have anything in common with them anymore.

They ended on such a perfect high note with that timeloop ep. A near perfect goodbye.

People who like Futurama and want more: "yay!"

I'm happy that other people are happy.

People who like Futurama and don't want more: "boo!"

Y'all realize you can just not watch the new stuff?

"How else will I get my daily quota of blood boiling? This suggestion makes me angry!"

[–] deadbeef79000@lemmy.nz 16 points 3 days ago

Your lyrics lack subtlety, you can't just have characters announce how they feel! That make me angry!

[–] criss_cross@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago

I dunno it’s just weird to see the corpse of something I loved paraded around.

I’m not gonna go crazy over it but leaving a quick “this kinda sucks” on a message board is low effort.

[–] MimicJar@lemmy.world 15 points 3 days ago

This has what bugs me. People don't watch the new stuff AND complain about the new stuff.

I watch the new stuff, it's got good episodes, it's got bad episodes, and it's got just fine episodes. We've got three Futurama specials to look forward to. Maybe they'll be good, maybe bad, maybe just fine. I'm looking forward to finding out.

[–] Epp@lemmus.org 5 points 3 days ago

Right?! More is ALWAYS better when it comes to things you love. No exceptions. If you stop enjoying it, stop watching it, but don't yuck everyone else's yum because it's not for you. Some (most) people are so conceited and like to moan when their quality levels aren't met.

Counting down until Futurama is labeled 'slop'...

[–] daddycool@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (5 children)

I stopped watching after a few episodes of season 8. It felt like it lost its way. So I'm fine just rewatching season 1-7 and the movies.

This has to be the most “revived” show ever right?

I love the show, but I think it’s time to be done.

[–] criss_cross@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

Hot take it was time to be done after the first 4 seasons. That run was great. It should not have gotten revived.

[–] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

Zombierama!

Please stop playing, Fry. I don't wanna hear how it ends.

[–] lazylemons@lemmy.today 14 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Great news! Always love new Futurama.

[–] LadyButterfly@reddthat.com 3 points 3 days ago

Me too! I'm always gutted when they cancel it

[–] Deyis@beehaw.org 14 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Fucks sake... the original ending was perfect
