Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

Girl... they were doing you a favor... That was an outfit for a filler episode.

I'll never understand this, I buy a 10 pack of the same colored shirts and 10 pairs of the same jeans and thats what I wear every day.

This is literally what my suitcase looks like on work trips. Black polos and slacks as far as the eye can see

[–] CalypsoGirl@lemmy.today 1 points 2 days ago

You mean green T-shirts? If the comment you responded to is literally what your suitcase looks like on work trips.

Hey now, Doug was ahead of his time! Let's not forget how a celebrity wore it once then everyone was about it. They didn't wear anything else that that celebrity wore all unanimously.

[–] jimerson@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It's been many many years, but I think the episode where he shows his wardrobe is that same episode, as he was trying to prove to everyone that he wasn't just joining the fad.

Also, I discovered that almost anyone can do a flawless Roger impersonation. Try it! "Move it, Funny!"

It's so weird that people who are adults now watched that cartoon when they were children. When that cartoon came out I was a full adult already and couldn't imagine feeling any nostalgia from it.

Bruh you must be me. 🫱🏽‍🫲🏿

There will never be anything wrong with wearing what you enjoy to wear everyday. No matter how monotonous. Nohody can convince me other wise.

( as long as you dont work in a lab or a factory of course lol)

that's specifically where you also have some dress shirts of the same color for when you need to be fancy

[–] rockSlayer@lemmy.blahaj.zone 21 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Same, except I get all my shirts for free by going to stuff. Free shirts make me go places

[–] the_riviera_kid@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I am a big fan of free stuff, I'm wearing a free shirt right now.

[–] Simulation6@sopuli.xyz 10 points 3 days ago

They never givae away free underwear so you have to shopping from time to time.

I work in the clothing industry. When I learned you can bulk order as a vendor, I replaced half my wardrobe with cheap, comfortable, quality shirts and heat pressed custom designs on all of them so they’re unique. Now I have my own personal brand on half my wardrobe!

I have a few Linux, EndeavourOS and Bazzite shirts as well :)

[–] Quetzalcutlass@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

Similarly, you can buy cheaper high quality kitchen gear if you source it from a restaurant supply store.

Is there a minimum order size for a bulk vendor like that?

[–] Bluegrass_Addict@lemmy.ca 12 points 3 days ago (1 children)

ever put a picture of a shirt on a shirt?

I keep seeing post from people making their own clothing brands, but I didn't know you could bulk order like that. Is there any more information you could share?

[–] CultLeader4Hire@lemmy.world 15 points 3 days ago (1 children)

For me it’s more like a hobby and I don’t think understanding why people like their hobbies is required

[–] the_riviera_kid@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago

I'm not knocking it, I just don't understand it. I am not required to understand your hobby for you to enjoy it.

[–] FatVegan@leminal.space 10 points 3 days ago (6 children)

When i find a shirt or pants i like i buy multibles. I still try not to wear them back to back. And i can't even tell you why. Even if i don't hang out with the same people, and it's a different shirt, it feels like in tge meme, it has some sort of cooldown on it.

So embarrassing accidentally wearing the same outfit the same day of the week twice in a row.

[–] somethingsomethingidk@lemmy.world 44 points 3 days ago (5 children)

I used to wear the same shirt every Monday as a social experiment. I wanted to see how long it would take someone to say something. After about a year I ended up telling my boss about it and he said "Oh yeah, we all noticed, we just figured you were so broke you couldn't afford clothes" 💀

[–] yakko@feddit.uk 34 points 3 days ago

I'm shocked they even noticed, who's out here actually paying attention to shit

[–] Grail@multiverse.soulism.net 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)
[–] UnequalExchange@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

....huh.... thats a good angle to begin the attack from. Never thought about it in that way

People are so mean 😭😭 sounds like a fun social experiment though. It says more about them than it does about you.

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 9 points 3 days ago

Dude doesn't even recognize "chill" as a word.

[–] boonhet@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 days ago

I had a boss who was an attractive woman with an eccentric style sense.

I was waiting to see if she'd ever wear the same outfit twice, but I don't remember that happening.

Basically the opposite of your case

[–] binarytobis@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago

Had this moment recently when I wore some new stitch fix stuff about town for the first time, and my day out ended up being a lot shorter than I planned. Was lowkey bummed about it until I realized that no one I knew saw me, and just wore it again the next day.

[–] LavaPlanet@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

This is hilarious! She has an awesome sense of humour. Rarely do I genuinely laugh out loud, this got me.

[–] FryHyde@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

In that case would you mind explaining some or all of what the intended joke is here? I'm very confused.

[–] Shave_MyBeever@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

My take is that they got all dressed up but the day was meh, so they have to put the outfit on the back burner and hope it works on another day - but not too soon, because you don't want to be wearing the same outfit within a short amount of time.

[–] LavaPlanet@sh.itjust.works 2 points 21 hours ago

Yeah, kinda. But the humour is a take / satire on main character energy, with a twist of satire on "now I can't wear this again" hinting at beeing seen on her episode already.

I read it as neurodivergent coded, meaning I really can't wear this again because the dopamine won't work twice in a row, but saying it in a funny way, like actually it's because I'm on a telly show, (which in an of itself causes more dopamine). If you see these jokes that are twists on takes of reality, framing it in a different way, it's usually a neurodivergent thing, because neurotypicals aren't hit by every day life things, as hurdles, and therefore aren't able to see them in the same way.

[–] bownage@beehaw.org 16 points 3 days ago

Relatable :(

[–] Dadifer@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago

I wear mostly the same 3 pairs of scrubs.

[–] CalypsoGirl@lemmy.today 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

And how embarrassing, you know that nightmare we've all had before when we're out in public with no pants on? I think it happened to her.
