Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

Huh? I've taken at least 2 showers before and I never noticed this.

[–] Earthwormjim91@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago

The idea is that twitter users don’t shower. And this would entice them to go get in the shower to try it.

[–] CalypsoGirl@lemmy.today 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Your username indicates that you already have paws, therefore you don't need any sudsy shower bubble tricks to achieve this effect.

[–] ArfArfWoof@europe.pub 2 points 2 weeks ago

no moar showers yay

[–] Smorty@lemmy.blahaj.zone 57 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

this is so maticilously shaped that I assume its really hard to do...

[–] GalacticSushi@lemmy.blahaj.zone 33 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I use bar soap and it doesn't get things nearly sudsy enough to do this. Maybe foaming hand soap would be easier.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 14 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah at first I was thinking maybe shampoo. But no, this is like bubble bath.

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 6 points 2 weeks ago

My thought is shave soap is about the only thing I've used that could create foam like this.

[–] SaharaMaleikuhm@feddit.org 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It's definitely not a real photo

You can compare the 2 closely to see it. Missing lines (thumb in particular), curved finger (shadows), tiny index finger and the unrealistic gap between them all. Looks like slop to me.

[–] ALoafOfBread@lemmy.ml 52 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Doubt. Bots can't take showers

[–] Spezi@feddit.org 10 points 2 weeks ago

I think its better to let them try at least at your closest data center.

Hairless cats make me so very deeply uncomfortable.

It's the flesh. They are flesh-cats.

(No offence intended—I think all kitties are great: befloofed or florfless)

[–] JustAnotherKay@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I am the other side of the coin, I LOVE hairless animals. Hairless cats and rats are definitely my favorites, mobile scrotums with an attitude

You can’t pet them very much, or at least you should do so with a glove on or wash them afterwards. Hairless animals are very frail, the oils from human skin can severely damage their skin and in some cases even cause cancer. Poor babies

I like rats too, but only with fur. I just don't get it. It's a pet, but I can't pet it and it needs to wear a sweater to keep warm in winter‽ What is this strange manner of beast‽

[–] anewfox@lemmy.zip 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

sorry, but being uncomfortable around sphynx cats is a personal moral failing.

[–] strawberry_enjoyer42@lemmy.blahaj.zone 16 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

No, my personal moral failing is not owning a set of cat ears and a tail, and not owning any thigh-highs or femboy shorts.

[–] N0tTr0xy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

What, no tigh-highs? But they give you plenty of stat buffs

[–] strawberry_enjoyer42@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I knoooooow! I really want that +5 to Programming, and the +10 to Cutesy :/

I suppose I should just splurge and buy a pair...

[–] N0tTr0xy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Choose Your Tigh Highs

I’m not sure if they can be stacked.

But they can definitely be stacked with long pants if you don’t want to wear them openly. I sometimes wear them when it’s cold just because they are my longest socks.

waow,,, i need all six pairs i think :3

[–] Town@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Hairless bears and chimpanzees are pretty strange too.

I think it's homophobic to call large gay men that shave "pretty strange", but I agree that chimpanzees are rather odd. (/j, if it wasn't obvious)

[–] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 1 week ago

"behold a man"

That’s so fucking real. Oh hey, it’s you!

[–] Smorty@lemmy.blahaj.zone 21 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (4 children)

I'd think all furries moved away from twitter?

EDIT: switches "curries" to "furries" whoopsie

[–] GalacticSushi@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

You'd think, but it never ceases to amaze me to see how many people are still on that cesspool of a platform.

For real. It's slowly becoming the 4chan of microblogging.

[–] gandalf_der_12te@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

i feel like the opposite to "bro" should be "ble", for some reason

[–] N0tTr0xy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Why not sis? Although I like the neutral sib

[–] gandalf_der_12te@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

uhh late reply but it's because "r" and "l" seem like opposite letters to me

[–] N0tTr0xy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 5 days ago

like right and left?

[–] Jankatarch@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Reddit changed my faith in humanity to a degree where, at least initially, I thought you were calling Indians "curries" and going along with the "Indians don't shower" racist joke trend.

Then I remembered we are on blahaj, lemmy. And that the letter 'c' is near "f' on the US keyboard.

[–] Smorty@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

yes whoopsie fixed it, i believe that was autocorrect

[–] N0tTr0xy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Did you mean to type furries instead of the ethnic slur curries?

[–] Smorty@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 2 weeks ago

yyyyes i meeant furries, my bad, i fixed it

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Is curries an ethnic slur? I haven't heard it used that way.

[–] N0tTr0xy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 weeks ago

sometimes a followup post doesnt add anything. this time it adds something that ruins the post

[–] rapchee@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago
