Note: The most controversial change about this model comes in the form of pogo pins for charging. Xteink did away with the USB-C port on the newer model, and some people simply can’t get past that, even though it comes with a pogo to USB-C adapter. Some people got so miffed by this that Xteink announced they plan to bring back USB-C ports on future devices.

That's the specific reason I bought my older model Xteink. I wanted USB-C port. Totally worth it for me. So just know that this version being sold right now does NOT have USB-C port. Future models will.

Was about to be upset since I just bought an older one on ebay, but if this doesn’t have the usb c then that’s still just fine.

You did good. The older ones work fine, and the fact that they still have USB-C makes them totally worth it.

I'm sure new adapter works fine and all, but I'm just tired having different cords and adapters, etc. I'm a USB-C or die person now.

Buy directly from xtienk's website where they explicitly ship unlocked firmware so you can load the open source crosspoint reader. Not every place you can buy xteink will be unlocked and the Amazon listing doesn't seem to mention it so it may not be unlocked.

Plus, fuck amazon.

The locked ones (at least the original X4) were still easily flashable from an SD card

Good point. I don't have any issues with amazon though, and I like their speed and return policy. I bought mine on Amazon and it was unlocked.
