The "Little Guys," had names‽‽
The babies were Wheems, Flotsam and Jetsam according to my search. I was really disappointed in how few and how crappy the stills from the film.
I assume Wheems is the one that had to be jump started?
Yes, and easily the cutest robot in cinematic history.
I really like this because it's cute, but it isn't because it's just copying things we already find cute. Sure, a robot dog is cute because it's a dog. This though? It doesn't even have something to resemble eyes that you can look at, but it's somehow still cute.

Yeah but they can be the worst at picking names.
Seeing Lower Decks has messed with my memory of the TNG episode to where I now could swear they were sassy and could speak.

TNG season 6 episode 9, the quality of life, but you also have to watch the Peanut Hamper trilogy found in Lower Decks
Or just watch all of Lower Decks, while you're there. Though I do agree that Peanut Hamper is a highlight (for me anyway - I've seen strongly divided opinions on this. :)
I loved it, my bf who had never watched Trek before LD, was just confused. To be fair, LD is so reference heavy it's not a good one to start with.
Indeed, it's clearly a show that's made by people with an obsessive love of Star Trek as a whole. Most of the really obscure stuff wasn't central to any plots, but it's still a little more fun being able to point and go "oh! The giant skeleton of Mr. Spock hanging from the ceiling! That's from that one weird episode of Star Trek: The Animated Series with the enormous clones!"

Ahh I misspoke, what I call the Peanut Hamper trilogy includes the TNG episode. But Lower Decks season 1 episode 10 is where the artificial life form gets their name, and season 3 episode 7 has the wildest story arc for this character. It’s a real treat!
There is a 3rd appearance in s4e7 "A Few Badgeys More" with Agimus.
