I had a great time in money. It definitely cost a lot of money.

Got to love the French calling Italian food overrated, when their international recognized dish consists of black coffee and a cigarette.

[–] Hossenfeffer@feddit.uk 5 points 1 day ago

I dunno, man, a black coffee and a cigarette is pretty good.

Love how the UK isn’t even there

"THE VAST ATLANTIC OCEAN." Nothing to see here...

As a Pole, I find this offensive. We're more than just potato munchers.

We're also potato drinkers.

[–] khannie@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago (4 children)

Is there anything a potato can't do? 😍

[–] protogen420@lemmy.blahaj.zone 19 points 2 days ago (3 children)
[–] OleFoFa@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

They even dont recognise the potato as a seperate entity. They really just call them pomme de terre (ground apple) and job's a goodun.

You forgot about rotten cabbage that is close to our hearts. In all shapes and forms.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 11 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Why they gotta do Ireland and Scotland dirty like that?

[–] Blackmist@feddit.uk 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Come on, you really think you're that much better than English food?

The most popular Scottish dish was invented by a Pakistani and everyone thinks it's Indian.

Chicken tikka.

[–] diaphragmwp@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 2 days ago

The got the whole half continent dirty. Except Belarus, they are proud of it.

UK not even being on the map xD

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 7 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

The French are just jealous of our portable usable bread, that isn't 16 feet long, doesn't go off 20 minutes after purchase, and can actually be used to make sandwiches.

We Dutch people don’t even eat that much sauerkraut since it is a German dish. The French actually know us for our baked goods. You know the ones that kick in after an hour.

[–] InFerNo@lemmy.ml 7 points 2 days ago

"fries"

Accurate.

[–] bstix@feddit.dk 9 points 2 days ago (5 children)

Danish pastry is not soggy. On the contrary, it's a lot crispier than what the rest of Europe is eating.

Perhaps they're thinking of the pastry called a danish, which is not Danish. We ourselves call it a Berliner, but I think it's actually from Austria.

Not for nothin, we love to see a territorially intact Ukraine.

I like it how the map essentially says "we cannot find anything proper to complain about Italy."

“We stole half our flavor profiles from them and refuse to admit it, so we pretend like anything we stole is actually just common knowledge.”

France is good for bread and wine. French food is basically Italian food without pasta. Lots of butter and salt with no competing flavors. Want something with your savory dish? Fuck you, pair it with a wine. Want spicy? Fuck you that's not tradition!

French food is bad. It tastes fine but the ceremony and culture around it are toxic.

[–] The_v@lemmy.world 26 points 2 days ago (1 children)

"French food is really good." they told me during months I spent traveling all around country over many years. "It's just complicated and most people don't know how to cook it."

Me "So in the past two weeks I have tried 14 different places in 6 different cities and all 14 meals have been horrible. Okay..."

There's a reason why a tire company publishing a list of recommended places to eat when traveling around France became so popular. Its not because the average place to get food was good.

Mexico: Stopping at a gas station, a little old lady hand rolling tortillas and cooking them on an open bbq. Her "Tacos?" Me nodding vigorously"Si, si, si" They were insanely delicious.

but the ceremony and culture around it are toxic.

That's what makes it French.

Every now and then this picture or some variation of pops up and my country gets slapped with being rice country.

We cook and eat better than the spanish, french and italians put together. And we are not afraid of our spices.

Didn't see 🇲🇽 on the map.

[–] qyron@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 day ago

I can't get mexican food here. At least not any more. There was a Cantina Mariachi once near where I lived but it closed down after a few years. But I know the cuisine is really interesting and fresh.

Why is the place with the best food labeled "famine"

[–] Horsey@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

It’s the European equivalent of extreme poverty. But by world standards, they’re doing just fine lol.

Completely valid criticism for hungary. I just put like a kilo of paprika on like 100 grams of chicken 💀

[–] mrmisses@lemmy.world 19 points 2 days ago (18 children)

As someone who was lucky enough to visit Italy, it is far from overrated.

Nah, we actually respect italian cuisine.

[–] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 8 points 2 days ago

One day we’ll catch them on film enjoying a Greggs sausage roll and the charade will be over.

[–] Lumidaub@feddit.org 16 points 2 days ago

It took me far too long to realise that, by "rotten cabbage", they mean Sauerkraut.
