Yes, it makes a huge difference. Animal agriculture is one of the most environmentally destructive things we are doing.
if being vegan made a difference this might be true.
If that were true, there wouldn't be an industry for plant-based foods. Vegan activists also drive real change, like exposing abuses, getting facilities shut down, and even driving legislation for better protections for animals.
It only seems like it makes no difference now because something like 95-98% of people globally still consume animal products, but throughout the course of veganism as a social movement, the percentage of vegans has grown.
The overton window just hasn't moved enough yet. But it's going to have to, because industrial animal agriculture is sheer madness and utterly unsustainable.

Honey debate this, wool debate that. Here's a real debate for ya (/hj): is consuming human flesh vegan if the person explicitly and verifiably consented to being eaten?

This is my take now as a vegan: any person who is ok with eating animals should also be ok with eating humans*

I think I would doubt they're mentally all there if they said hey eat me after I die, but assuming they were then I don't see a problem with it.
Just to be clear it's implied in the hypothetical that the person was capable of consenting when he wrote his will saying he consents to being eaten.
