That's because Rockstar has an advertising budget that would put the GDP of most countries to shame, and they're not afraid to swing it around after the large and extended success of GTAV.

I expect we'll see the same for Elder Scrolls VI as well, soonish.

Aaaand you're part of the problem.

Yeah, it looks so generic. I don't understand what there even is to report about.

"GTA is getting another one. will this one recapture everything you liked about the 5th release, San Andreas? probably not! but here's 16 dissapointing new features we're going to convince you you're excited about"

"This time we're back with twice as many testicles, slow AF animations and this time your characters control like they're roller blading. "

You read gaming media? I finally stopped when RPS was bought out

[–] RQG@lemmy.world 5 points 5 days ago

RPS is probably still one of the best sources of gaming news. They have lots of nice indie recommendations and I often find some gems I'd have missed.

Also I like most of their writing styles. And they click bait a lot less.

It's been interesting to watch go by as someone without a horse in the race. I've never had any interest in GTA games.

I loved GTA games, but didn't play GTA V. That was the one that kinda killed it for me. I saw my friends play it, but the online stuff seemed to be the only thing they played. I used to be endlessly entertained with just the game and myself playing... idk, it just didn't seem as fun to "compete" on a game that, for me, was about trying to best yourself or a couch buddy (or just try some dumb shit, because why not). That was the end of GTA for me

I've never enjoyed them as whole properties, but as vehicles for dialogue, they're excellent. However, God of war did it far closer to my tastes as I actually enjoy the soulslike gameplay loop, where I do not enjoy early 2000s shooters given new paint. Pithy dialogue between boy, beard, and head was most enjoyable

pirate don’t buy pirate don’t buy pirate don’t buy

Use that money on you, Rockstar has plenty

[–] RQG@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

For small indie games: buy, don't pirate.

Hey anybody tried Peak or Raccoin?

I'd still like to hear major updates about big releases. Just not 3 articles per day about each individual pixel in GTA 6.

make it a NOT statement

while (date +FORMAT %Y:%m:%d != 2026:11:19)
filter !({GT6,Grand Theft Auto VI} release)
