"I was born a poor black child"

Watching David Ike go after Elon musk is a bit like Nigel Farage calling JK Rowling a bigoted ecomaniac, you don't expect it.

And then depended on socialized system to support him while he used it to advance himself.

“Self made” is bullshit.

There probably hasn’t been a real self-made wealthy person in a century.

Everyone got some kind of assistance. Whether it be the public schools, parent’s money, or loans, they all got a hand up and in the case of parental wealth they got a handout.

People constantly dismiss the social system that propped them up with schools, libraries, free or reduced cost school lunches, government grants, scholarships, or even a GI Bill as soon as they get rich they “did it all themselves.”

"Heartbreaking: the worst person you know just made a great point."

when your statement is so absurd that David "Lizard People" Icke calls you out for wanting people to believe it

[–] hansolo@lemmy.today 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

What he means is that he had roughly $2K in cash on him when he landed. For a gentle landing. From Papa Musk's mines.

That's like saying the Mara sisters were a true rags to riches story for their rise in Hollywood.

It's not rags to riches when even your early roles had lines in your contract where you were exempt from filming on days where the Giants or Steelers has playoff/super bowl games since your wealthy family owned 2 NFL teams.

[–] kablez@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Surprised he didn't call Elon out for being one of the types of aliens...

Does Musk really want to bring up his apparently illegal activities in that era considering the current ICE climate regarding those who have a history of immigration violations?

Atlanta immigration attorney Charles Kuck says Musk stating that he had a J-1 visa makes it clear he worked illegally, given the restrictions that would have only allowed work in connection with his academic program.

“So clearly, he’s admitting now that in fact, he did work illegally and violate his status. The only question is at that point, what did he do to fix his status violation?” Kuck says.

Imagine ICE grabbing Musk and treating him like they treat anyone else and then deporting him to some random African nation with a history of enslaving people.

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 11 points 1 day ago (2 children)

He can buy and sell the agency multiple times. Milo got deported because despite being loud, he probably has pretty average savings. We've seen right-wing sorts get bludgeoned by the leopard hammer. None of them have been extremely wealthy. It won't happen.

[–] Manjushri@piefed.social 11 points 1 day ago

You're right, of course, but don't interrupt my fantasy. And let's be honest, he couldn't buy or sell anything if ICE grabbed him, sent him to a shit-hole facility in some random state and refused to allow him access to a phone to call anyone. Damn... I'm getting close.

[–] zbyte64@awful.systems 7 points 1 day ago

Milo got in trouble for criticising Isreal. Maybe if he sucked off Trump like Loomer did he might still be on this side of the pond.

I didn't think I'd ever agree with the guy who says reptilians are controlling world governments, but here we are.

Yeah, lol. $2000 was what he kept in his wallet, just in case he wanted to make a few impulse purchases at the airport.

Isn’t Icke’s lizard people schtick just all the same old “Jews control the world” bullshit masked by a layer of absurdity? And does that make this Nazi-on-Nazi infighting?

[–] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 2 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago)

No, he comes by the insanity honestly. It’s no euphemism.

[–] Jomega@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

According to people close to him, he actually does mean lizard people when he talks about lizard people. Make of that what you will.

He specifically targets the British royal family so probably not antisemitism, just regular crazy.

Here's the thing: obscenely rich people can say whatever and literally everyone will believe it because the average human thinks "he has lots of money therefore he is smart and worked his way up and if I use this as a judge of his character then he is unlikely to lie"

It's a huge cultural issue that pervades everything, money is not virtue.

[–] Flower@sh.itjust.works 16 points 1 day ago (2 children)

It's classic circular reasoning.

"He's so rich because he's hard working and smart."

"How do you know he's so hard working?"

"Because lazy and dumb people don't get rich, duh."

To many, rich parents, dumb luck, lack or morals and a huge pile of debt don't play a role.

Had a troll try to parrot this propaganda in a furry MUCK. I told them that they were facist dick sucking nazi and told them that their days were numbered. I got banned from the furry MUCK for the "death threat." if threatening a nazi is wrong, I don't want to be right.

Oh dear god.

Are we really at the point where ... David Icke is saying things that actually make sense?

[–] whereitsat@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

when i came to america i only had 2k in my pocket. i rented a house in san francisco for 5k a month. it was the house used in the 'full house' exterior shots, and this was back in 1999 when the minimum wage was like 7.50. and you can trust me on that--i asked a guy who worked at safeway and he told me he made 7.50 and he didn't seem like the type to bullshit a brother.

i met this guy named pete at the gay bar, somewhere close, but i don't remember excactly where it was; it was within walking distance because i loved to walk back then, it tightened the quads and relaxed my asshole. he was still doing that whole leather and chains thing that was popular in the 80s--maybe you've seen 'cruising' with al pachinko or seen the music video to YMCA--and we had this great idea: what if you could make instant payments online?

i'd often have discreet hookups with 9"+ black bulls i met in the classified ads and feel cheap when i had to pay them in cash afterwards.

what if there was a way to pay upfront--but in cyberspace to abstract the entire experience?

but let's get back to pete. i'd often suck his dick and swallow his ENTIRE LOAD, and let me tell you it tasted like grandma's gravy on the best thanksgiving. after one of these meals we came up with the idea for paypal in our playful pillow talk. i told him how much i enjoyed his cock and he said to me 'i love my playpal,' and paypal was born, just like that, after we discussed the financials and the split for a few hours.

we hired a couple of asian nerds to code up paypal after we enslaved them in our basement (they were on VISAs and we threatened to report them).

we got all the money for this from our dads. but if you talk about this in media or wikipedia act like we worked minimum wage for a few to to fund it or just ignore these details. thanks.

"My God, the shit you want us to believe.”

lol, David Icke Does Irony

[–] dreamkeeper@literature.cafe 27 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

For real, can't believe I enjoyed a David fucking Icke comment

[–] Malica@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 day ago

About as honest as his video game clout

[–] melfie@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Isn’t Icke the guy who had a nude photo of himself on the cover of one of his books? I have a bad memory of seeing it in a bookstore where someone had peeled off the censorship sticker. It’s funny that I still have more respect for Icke, even though Musk never made me have a peek at his pecker.

[–] Blackmist@feddit.uk 13 points 1 day ago

Imagine being so nuts that even David Icke seems sane.
