Just finished This I Know, by Eldonna Edwards.

If I hadn't read Clover Blue first, I probably would not have picked up this, her first book, based on the description. But, I trusted the author, so I tried it. I'm glad I did. It's a good mix of supernatural woo-woo, and coming of age. Recommended.

Currently reading There Is No Antimemetics Division, by British author qntm.

This is more of my usual sci-fi fare, and I'm enjoying it. I feel like I've come across this trope before, but not explored in such detail. Recommended.

I tried reading The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August, by Claire North, a pseudonym of British author Catherine Webb.

I didn't care for the prose, only made it a couple of pages, and knew it wasn't for me. There might be a movie, eventually. I'd probably watch the movie, I like the premise.

I'm almost halfway through In the Distance by Hernan Diaz. It's the first book of his I've read, and it's really good. I'll read his more recent book, Trust, next. My wife highly recommended that one.

Lord Foul's Bane - Stephen Donaldson

Heard of the Covenant series for a long time, never got around to it before now. Seems OK, doubt I'll read all 10 but we'll see.

Almost done with Empire of the Damned

Finished Mortedant's Peril by R.J. Barker and enjoyed it. A super easy read, fun little mystery, and an interesting world to explore. It seems like it's the first of a series, so I'll be keeping an eye out for the next one.

I just started House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski.

Not too far in yet but so far I like it. Definetly on the more unique side concerning the writing style/composition.

Looking forward to make some progress when I've got some time to spare again.

Aberration in the Heartland of the Real: The Secret Lives of Timothy McVeigh by Wendy S. Painting.

I've had this on my list for years and finally got around to it by choosing it for my bookclub, as revenge for being forced to read Dungeon Crawler Carl (I did warn them there would be repercussions).

It's a masterpiece; incredibly detailed and insightful, it also sprawls into an exploration of the American malaise and the cultures that create people like McVeigh. Incredibly dense and heavy, but utterly compelling.

Just started up Children of Time which has been on my to read/listen list for a long time. I am ENGROSSED so far!

Deep Work by Cal Newport. I’m trying to add blocks of distraction free time to each day and it’s a big challenge, hopefully this book will give me some fresh ideas regarding the implementation.

I finally finished Dungeon Crawler Carl: A Parade of Horribles last week.

This month I’m starting Dune and then Dune Mesiah in anticipation for the third movie later this year.

I’m currently reading The Annual Migration of Clouds. So far it’s pretty interesting.

I just started Dumb Luck by Vu Trong Phung. I was browsing through Book Street in Vietnam and found this, one of the few that was translated into English. I’m excited, I’ve never read a Vietnamese book before. It was written in 1936, which was during the late French colonial period.

I just finished the second Red Dwarf book earlier tonight, I liked it. It's interesting how they've mashed together and expanded on so many of the episodes to make them flow together back to back. I feel so much sorrier for book-Lister than show-Lister, and he was already in a living hell.

Also about halfway through Watcher of the Void by Michael G Manning but there's not much to say about it. If you can get past Will (and Mordecai before him) being fairly unlikeable and impossibly powerful so that it feels like you're playing a game with a child who can make the rules as they go, it's more of the same. This is book twenty-something so if you're reading it you probably know what to expect.

It's just that and the next three Red Dwarfs lined up for now, then back to First Law probably.

Walking With Weight by Michael Easter. Expecting it to be light and breezy.

Just picked up Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro. Planning to start reading it tonight.

I'm enjoying The Death of the Necromancer by Martha Wells. About a third of the way through it, and enjoying it!

I didn't finish Hidden Empire by Kevin J. Anderson, but I might get back to it eventually. The prose just isn't catching me. Anyone read this one, or his whole "Saga of the Seven Suns"? Is it worth going on?

Finished A Murder of Quality by John le Carré. Not terrible, but I agree with it being rated/reviewed more poorly than the rest of the Smiley series. Smiley spends most of the book interviewing people that avoid telling him key pieces of information because his cover story is wrong for that kind of confidence, and the rest is PoV switches, some of which withhold other information from the reader (and are thus fairly pointless). He figures it out anyway, of course, but in terms of being a) a good whodunit, and b) a good Smiley book... eh. I still found it very readable, though.

Currently reading Welcome to the Hyunam-dong Bookshop by Hwang Bo-Reum. This is very slice-of-life, told in little snippets. Quick to get through, but very meandering. Not sold on the translation in places.

Reading volume two of "the wandering inn". I liked volume one better, but it's still good.

Finished Sword of Kaigen last night/this morning. Wow what a ride, would highly recommend it! I think my only critique is that the ending left me yearning for more, which is usually a great thing, however, the author has put the universe on hiatus :(. Thinking I'll do a re-read of Vicious and it's sequel by V.E. Schwab next, before the last book releases in October. Which will end up being my last square for the community book bingo!

Still gradually my making my way through Seeing Like a State on the non-fiction side.

Finished Amber and Ashes was enjoyable but its D&D based so can see it wouldnt be for everyone. Its the first in a trilogy so will get to the others hopefully soon.

On recommendation from friends of my partner started Between Two Fires. Not really far into it, so no judgements yet.

Will start Morning Star later this week. Usually do audiobooks at work and been busier this week than previously so dont want to get into anything just yet.

That was a solid trilogy. They handled some aspects of magic a bit different, which gave the story a fresh touch.
I wonder why that books were never made into a movie or complete movie franchise.

I started 'Endnotes 2' a couple days ago. I'm halfway and loving it but I'm taking my time. I am also taking notes about the most important things to better retain the theoretical content.

In short, this book breaks down capitalist social relations from the perspective of a communist branch called communization. I absolutely love that worldview :)

Just went through a couple of short storiea from a safe girl to love by casey plett, not sure whaf I'll be reading next.
