My wife does spins whenever she's wearing a dress that will float out. I probably would too if I fit in such a dress.

[–] Hazel@piefed.blahaj.zone 50 points 5 days ago (4 children)

I feel like dresses are probably the most forgiving piece of clothing fit-wise.

As a fat, dress wearing guy: yes.

It's fun to watch my kid attempt a cartwheel, he turns about 1 radian and then folds onto the floor. He'll get it right one of these days, but I think I like this part better

True that I see less people doing this, but there are some that keep it alive, my sister still randomly cartwheels everywhere she goes, she even learnt how to do it while holding her beer, and without spilling it !

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 23 points 5 days ago

Ok, that I’d like to see.

[–] okwhateverdude@lemmy.world 16 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

Yeah, disbelieve. We're gonna need to see a gif or something of your sister doing this.

EDIT: This is how to properly internet. Take notes younglings. This is how you summon content 😉

Prehistoric YouTube is the best.

[–] skadi@jlai.lu 9 points 5 days ago

Yup that's pretty much this ! With a tad more momentum so she's able to remove the hand on the ground mid wheel

I'd do a cartwheel if I had the body of an 8 year old, I can't even do the dishes without backpain now

[–] Track_Shovel@slrpnk.net 13 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I turn my seat heaters on for back pain

[–] Viceversa@lemmy.world 17 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Why would you need the back pain?

[–] icelimit@lemmy.ml 1 points 16 hours ago

Just to feel something

[–] PancakesCantKillMe@lemmy.world 15 points 5 days ago

Makes me feel alive.

[–] Fizz@lemmy.nz 43 points 5 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

Im not a women but im gonna hit a cartwheel on my way to work tomorrow for the tweet poster. Hopefully I can still do it and don't fall into the mud.

:update: I did but it was a shit cartwheel. I'm way heavier than last time I did one.

[–] Track_Shovel@slrpnk.net 19 points 5 days ago

Hopefully I can still do it

Honestly, I used to do a lot of cart wheels as a boy, because fun. Now my shoulders and back say 'uh, sir, you're like 200 lbs, gtfo'

[–] Wispy2891@lemmy.world 32 points 5 days ago (4 children)

In my country a woman suspected of murder did a cartwheel while waiting to be interrogated and the police basically took that as an admission of guilt

[–] okwhateverdude@lemmy.world 24 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Pretty sure cops regardless of country will take any out of the norm behavior as an admission of guilt. They just be like that

[–] uriel238@lemmy.blahaj.zone 34 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I recently used this as an example of how mass surveillance escalates suspicion. If you drive home from work the same way for months and then change your route, that can be grounds for suspicion and investigation. Nevermind, you just charted a better path home.

And as law enforcement works in the US, post PATRIOT act, if you can be investigated under general suspicion, rather than for a specific crime. And you will be charged for any crimes discovered. And if you are in sight of the police (e.g. in an ALPR database) then every possible set of behaviors and conditions are suspicious.

[–] TheShamMirrors@lemmy.today 6 points 4 days ago

In both times you've brought it up then, you are correct

[–] grrgyle@slrpnk.net 20 points 4 days ago

Whimsy detected!! Deviant thoughtpatterns likely!! Danger!! Danger!! Crush it quickly!

[–] Viceversa@lemmy.world 10 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Maybe the victim was murdered by a cartwheel.

I saw a girl under 10 do cartwheels today. First time in a while.

[–] frittoBee@lemmy.world 26 points 5 days ago (2 children)

I work at a primary school and I see random cartwheels almost every day.

[–] frog@feddit.uk 32 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I work at a Home Depot. I also see cartwheels all the time.

[–] WoodScientist@lemmy.world 12 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I certainly wouldn't put it past home depot to hire elementary school kids!

Back when boys were boys and girls were dizzy

[–] silasmariner@programming.dev 16 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (4 children)

Maybe, hopefully, OP just doesn't spend as much time with girls as he did when a little boy. Anyway random cartwheels are definitely still a thing.

Edit: turns out I can't read

[–] Diddlydee@feddit.uk 56 points 5 days ago (1 children)

He definitely said in the post that women don't do random cartwheels, not girls.

[–] ccunning@lemmy.world 48 points 5 days ago

This is because society is evil and killed the cartwheel impulse in their soul.

I think OP was saying that as they grow up girls stop doing cartwheels. Because grown girls don't do cartwheels. I think you should see it as a "we live in a society" meme

[–] ccunning@lemmy.world 14 points 5 days ago

Can confirm, have 6yo daughter obsessed with perfecting her cartwheels.

Be the change you want to see in the world. Transition, then do a cartwheel in a skirt.

[–] Grass@sh.itjust.works 9 points 5 days ago

that reminds me. when I was a kid I tried to do a cartwheel repeatedly until I fell in a really painful way and then after that I'd just watch others do cartwheels enviously

Read this, quite literally did a cartwheel in an act of whimsy and solidarity against the encroaching darkness before responding.

(It was actually kind of fun and my back only hurts a tiny bit. One handed cartwheels used to be the preferred move, but fuck no).

[–] ennof@feddit.org 9 points 5 days ago
