I want there to be women's sports content on the threadiverse, so I put it there. I'm a bit "if you build it, they will come" about it.

How does for shits and giggles sound to you?

Sometimes I post nothing in a long time and just lurk, other days I upload funny pictures.

We're trying to build up the fediverse so more people are interested in participating.

I want see more local news, feminism, and alternative/punk music. Be the change you want to see and all that.

I have the same question for all the accounts who post a lot of the most stupid questions (usually in AskLemmy), seldom comment, and delete their posts if the votes become negative. Are they confused teenagers, bots, what the fuck are they?

Like that one a few minutes ago: nightops@nord.pub wondered whether an AI program was "literally" the same as a person before their death.

WHY?

I post between 3 and 5 a day. Is that 'many'?

I am the mod of the sub that I post in. I didn't expect to be the mod: the original mod has dropped off the radar, leaving me there. Since the I am only mod, I kinda think that I shouldn't just leave it to die - and I like to keep up with the news in that field anyway, so...

I mean some folks are trying to get communities going.

We're all here because we left various other social medias for the fediverse. Most of us have some communities we miss from wherever we came from. I miss seeing Dead by Daylight news and memes, so when someone made a Dead by Daylight comm I made an active choice to try and be a poster there, and committed to posting daily for a week, I may have done daily longer don't remember, but I tried.

Lots of comms start with one person posting, and then die the same way, so I felt like to go anywhere the Dead By Daylight comm needed more than the owner posting. That comm still ended up dying, but once you have enough posters to attract new ones more naturally you're set, and can enjoy the community you helped create.

You can also change comm culture for the better. On an alt I started posting in one of the nsfw comms because I felt the posts there weren't all they could be. Even posting a few great posts can make other posters feel like they should put a bit more effort into their own, and that effort paid off really fast.

I think that the primary driver behind people posting daily is to try and change this space for the better, whatever that looks like to them. Whether it's making new comms, attracting new posters, or trying to change comm cultures lots of good reasons to post more here if you have the motivation.

I post a lot of environmental content, because I don't just want to read on repeat about the shitty thing Donald Trump said today.

I want to see more content on the fediverse in general. If I'm not willing to feed the machine, how can I expect others to?

I spent over 15 years on reddit and got over one million karma through shit-commenting. I'm still chasing that juicy karma, even if it doesn't exist.

If you're talking about the accounts that just spam articles for a couple months and disappear...

There's a single person who's been doing it at least since the reddit migration 3 years ago, but I feel like it was already a thing before that.

I have no idea what the original ban was for, but all those accounts eventually get banned for being an alt of that account.

Afterwards they just make a dozen new accounts and keep doing it.

It's super weird, and I almost asked this morning actually when I saw a batch had been banned and new ones were already up.

But I know the person wouldn't answer.

A lot of people are making comments like “to boost Lemmy’s popularity/value”, but I wonder if making a lot of posts with relatively few comments is counterproductive?

Like, if I see a community where the top 20 posts have no comments, I’m reluctant to post or comment there because it doesn’t seem to have an engaged community. A community where the top posts all have long comment threads seems more inviting, even if the top posts go back two weeks instead of two hours.

I'm guessing that you're thinking of sanitation, since there was some discussion I recently saw about him.

I don't post all that much, but I comment a fair bit, so I could answer regarding that. For that, I enjoy discussing stuff on forums.

As a secondary factor, I also think that that's kinda what the Threadiverse is short of, people out discussing different things. As of 2026, Reddit's got a whole lot more users talking about a whole lot more stuff, which gives it a ton of niche topic coverage and valuable information. That's really what makes Reddit valuable; that's why people do site:reddit.com searches on Web search engines and such, not because it has Reddit Gold or because people are especially taken with the recommendation algorithm or anything like that.

Maybe they just like doing it. There's no total karma count, and shills are quickly terminated on sight here, so selling a high karmic account to advertisers isn't a thing.

What I hate is when a user who has been on the site for years but has next to no posts or comments just whining about prolific posters. Bruh if you hate what the people who actually post are posting, post your own shit. Bitching about it just makes them look like an entitled douchenozzle who thinks everything has to cater to their specific desires.

i mostly post because i get feedback on the stuff that i post about. so i learn something new too.

2. Terminally online and need to get a job, or at least a hobby.

3. Stuck at computer job all day and posting while on phone calls is pretty easy (my situation).

I post a lot of political comments, because I want to do my part to influence as many people as possible to my side. Propaganda, that's one reason why I'm here.

because due to circumstance I am stuck where I am, and I can either stare at the wall all day doing nothing between tasks, or I can bullshit with other people on a webforum.
