I'm at the Pizza Hut, I'm at the Taco Bell... I'm at the combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell.
Sorry for the earworm.
Whaat?
they said
SORRY FOR THE EARWORM
This looks like the worst parts of a pizza and a taco mixed together, I'm sorry. It'd be crunchy in the wrong places and altogether too chewy.
The grease from the cheese and pepperoni would obliterate the shell I think.( Source - am greasy Scicillian)
Perfect if you want to invite all your Mexican and Italian friends over and end the night in a shallow grave that they agree to never speak of again.
If you’re turning these down.. I hope you’ve got something better to live for
See, this is why I asked.
The tacos will inevitably break too much after a few bites and everthing will start spilling on you, and it's your fucking fault for doing that.
This is why I always go for a soft taco instead. Hard tacos want to be salad and will detonate into corn-chip shrapnel the instant you take that first bite, unmercifully dumping its contents onto the table and your lap in the process. I can't imagine eating one mess-free, unless equipped with a jaw that unhinges and a supernaturally flexible neck.
Sounds like a skill issue. Just unhinge your jaw like a snake and eat it in one bite like normal.
Looks like a fast lane through the digestive system
That or the opposite. Nothing in between
Guys it's just tacos with pepperoni on top.
What would be real solid is making like, chorizo pepperoni slices or something instead of the regular pepperoni
Ehhh looks way to greasy and fried to me and like a burn hazard
I get reflux just from looking at that.
In my experience pizza <insert any food that isn't pizza> is always disappointing.
Pizza bagels? Not great.
Pizza sandwiches? Also meh.
Pizza soup? Haven't had it, but also probably not great.
Pizza pizza? That's a calzone.
I expect pizza tacos to be just as dissappointing
Honestly, while it's hard to imagine eating one of those and actively disliking it, it's almost certainly just much worse than a pizza, if pizza is what you wanted, and maybe a slightly novel taco if you wanted a taco.
I haven't had one, I probably would, but it's much more a novelty than a real improvement on either pizza or a taco and probably not something you'd feel like having again.
I’d use flatbread instead. Like the Gorditas that Taco Bell used to have in the 90s.
Structurally and logistically there is no way that a shell transports pizza better than crust. Not to fault the 'tilla, just a different instrument for a different song
Tbh, hard-shell tortillas don't even transport tacos that well. I love 'em, especially coated in Dorito dust, but it's a flawed system for sure.
No no. Box crispy shells suck. Real corn tortillas cooked in oil until crispy enough to hold a V shape but just soft enough to really envelope the filling. Holy crap that's delicious! Dude, I'm making tacos tomorrow!
Why not dunk it in batter and deep fry it? Cholesterol, heart burn and clogged arteries in one go, get in there!
I recently heard about and tried pizza beans. Just some kind of white bean (any white beans) cooked, and then you cover them in pizza sauce, mozzarella, and pepperoni and broil it until the cheese is melted and caramelized a bit.
Sounded weird as hell, and I thought the texture would be horrible but the beans actually just kinda gave the same texture you get with pizza dough. Not as crispy, obviously, but like a Detroit style crust.
I might do these tacos but I wouldn't use the hamburger. Personally, I don't like how ground beef goes with the other pizza ingredients (i don't like burger on an actual pizza either)... But maybe refried beans would be great.
Meanwhile, every swede here going. Why are they showing pictures of Tacos from 2006 and calling them Pizza tacos?
Also, You all know these are really simple to make yourself right? Pretty much minimal skill required. If you know how to put minced meat in a pan and turn the heat on. You're pretty much halfway there. The other half includes knowing how to turn on an oven.
They look greasy, heart-burn'y. You'll miss nothing.
It looks like it would be extremely messy and no better tasting than regular pizza
They aren't as good as they look.
^They're^ ^better.^
... They look very easy to make at home. Just get leftover minced meat from your spaghetti, melt some mozzarella and pepperoni on top, olives, some pesto, all on a hardshell taco. Maybe even bake the taco shell with some cheese to make extra crust.
I dunno, I went looking for recipes to see what the process would be to keep the tortilla from falling apart as the beef released fats during baking and the sauce seeps in.
The gestalt is that you just minimize the fat in the first place, and have a layer of something that will shield the tortilla. Namely, cheese.
Brown low fat beef/meat/meat substitute. Warm the tortillas in a pan, and melt a layer of cheese on the tortilla.
From there it's just assembly and a long enough bake to melt the cheese that's on top.
Hypothetically, the tortillas should stay intact. Makes sense; other bread and bread-like things can take heavy sauces when there's a layer of cheese between.
As far as whether or not they'd taste good, well, taste is relative. I'm dubious of that much ground beef actually tasting pizza-ish enough to satisfy that desire. I'm okay with ground beef on pizza, though it isn't my fave. It's the ratio in the image that makes me dubious it'll hit the pizza urge.
I've been around long enough and done enough experimental cooking that I can usually "taste" a recipe without actually eating it as long as the ingredients are familiar enough. Nothing in the image, or the recipes I saw, would be bad at all, though some of the recipes really don't get what pizza sauce is. A lot of them are just dumping "Italian" herbs into the beef for some reason, like that's what makes a pizza a pizza. That does make a decent meat sauce for pasta in a pinch, but it isn't pizza flavor.
As a comparison, pizza dogs exist too. Cook hot dogs your preferred way. Place the buns in a baking dish. Place dogs in buns. Top with pizza sauce of choice. Top with shredded mozzarella. Bake until the cheese melts and is lightly browned. No pepperoni, no extras as the core, but it actually hits like pizza in terms of flavor. You wouldn't think so because of the hot dogs, but the sauce is the dominant flavor, followed by the cheese. Which is more pizza like than the pizza tacos in the image. Sorta like a meatball sub more than actual pizza though.
All of that rambling being said, I think it would taste at least okay to most palates. There's nothing that would clash, and nothing that would dominate so much as to be offputting. I'd actually agree that some extra seasoning in the beef would go a long way, but I'd focus on some garlic, maybe a little oregano, rather than a premix, or multiple herbs. Just something to lift the beefiness into a less burger-y taste.
Make your own at home.
Yes! Most junk food is only junk because it's made as cheaply as possible with shitty ingredients. McDonald's gives you the shits because it's McDonald's, not because it's burgers and fries. Those pizzacos look potentially delicious IF you make them yourself.
McDonald’s gives you the shits
McDonald's has never given me the shits. What are you people doing with your food? Do you.... wash you hands, like, ever or anything?
