Thought I'd just share a little story of my family discussions tonight! I've been a HA user for years, mainly with fairly basic automations and tinkering and stuff. I've tried to show my family but they aren't at all bothered as long as everything works. I marked this as show and tell but there's not much to show except being a proud nerd dad ๐
Tonight my son said he wanted a light in his room that changed brightness and colour during the day, and asked if we could buy one.
"No need, your light can already do that" and I told him we could set it up easily in Home Assistant.
He didn't want to use "that rubbish" and wanted to use the Hue app. Told him it wouldn't work as I've got rid of the Hue hub.
"But I want to build a flow chart of different conditions"
"Hue can't do that anyway. But Home Assistant can"
And I showed him C.A.F.E. He had a little play and then I saw him have the epiphany when his eyes lit up!
He spent the next three hours combing over all my dashboards, entities and automations. He literally asked "How have you done all this?!"
I now have a new admin and a Home Assistant convert!
