Old one's thread has given up. Nicked a new one from work in white as it is almost identical. Didn't want to unceremoniously ditch the old one, it did a great job for many years and saw many events, so here's a post to celebrate it. Thank you old faithful, long live the new faithful!
Plot twist: the new one is on the left, like one of those fancy jeans you buy pre-torn and faded for twice the price.

Some of my best purchases over the last decade (or at least seem to be used the most) are a zojirushi vacuum insulated 600ml mug, dear god the enamel can take a beating, looks (and works) brand new after 5? years and is still in production. Put three coffees in it in the morning and you're good all day (the way I make coffee anyway). The other was a 1L vacuum bottle (surprisingly actually was) with a pop up straw for cold water off ebay for like $10 on overflow or whatever, which is also a trooper, got lucky.
Given you use them each day, it's worth getting good ones.

I lived with someone who got the same yeti bottle I have. His magnetic lid broke and the bottle was all dented and scratched up and looked like shit within a year. He blamed the bottle. I haven’t seen him in five years…. I still have the same bottle and it has a small scratch on it from someone knocking it off a table I had set it on to use the restroom (someone whose hands were so caked up with lotion I couldn’t drink from it until I got it home and gave it an iso bath)
Not at all blaming OP—my guy worked a desk job from home and somehow just broke all of this shit all the time, just a fun anecdote.
Only Zojirushi thing I have is a rice cooker and it’s incredible.

We used to have workshops in the university that could, among other things, add threads to anything. When those dudes retired they just shut them down. It's easier to buy off-the-shelf stuff now or let students figure it out.

Yes.. 600ml, no straw, built in led light (100%/50%20%) charged by solar light or built in USB-A male. I just could not help myself. I parted with an equivalent of $7 and i'm happy
That looks much better than OP's one, I have similar. At first: you have a large bottleneck to wash it properly. It also helps to fill it without spilling. At second, the handle gives no stress to the thread, should work much longer.

The LED's are more a camping thingy (I mean....I found it in the travel travel corner), just a little light in the evening. The water tends to disperse the light. It's not a flashlight, It's not a regular light, but it's quite bright. I'm sure it will be handy some day

Did the threads give in the bottle or on the cap? "Many years" doesn't sound that many for an object consisting of two parts that I'd expect to last multiple lifetimes.

Looks like aluminium. It's pretty soft so it's not that surprising, by the look of the neck.
Looks to be fixed by the next iteration. Annodized steel perhaps. Will keep the old cap
So the cap doesn't fit tight anymore? And pops right out?
Did you wash it in the dishwasher regularly, or by hand?
Aluminum will wear out from contact rubbing , dishwasher silicates probably accelerate that breakdown.
Mostly be hand, but dishwasher on occasion. And cap is also worn on closer examination. And caps aren't interchangeable either. Will see how new faithful does
