You have to admit: how to change a dead light bulb:

20y ago:

• Open the hood
• Remove the old lighbulb
• Install the new lightbulb
• Close the hood
  Total: 5mins

10y ago:

• Open the hood
• Remove the part obstructing access to the lightbulb (4 substeps, 15mins)
• Unmount the lightbulb block (4 more screws in tight space, none of your screwdriver fits in the space)
• Take apart the lightbulb block (3 more screws)
• Replace the dead bulb
• Remount everything
  Total: 1h

Almost now:

• Press "Open hood" on the embedded computer, enter the mechanics access password that you got from the car maker after arguing on the phone for 1h
• Remove the protective panel above the hood compartment, that's just a piece of plastic with proprietary screws incompatible with everything in your toolbox.
• 50 more substeps, instructions include "recommended crane to lift the engine out of the car: [specific model only sold in Guanzhou, China]", 2 persons operation 2h passed
• Replace the whole "lightning apparatus" that's a single piece including all front lights, left and right, as it's all solded and cannot be taken apart without destroying everything. 300$ on Aliexpress with no warranty, 1000$ for the OEM model.
  Total: 8h.

This is how I feel about installing Linux. It never gives you a basic/easy install guide. It's ways an r/restoftheowl situation

EDIT - A lot of these responses are proving my point. Very easy to understand instructions if you know computers and computer terms. Not so much if you don't.

Also, people saying Linux is easier to install than Windows, totally forgetting that most people don't install Windows, it comes pre-installed, so the comparison is irrelevant

2nd EDIT - For the record, took a test and it said to try OpenSuse, Kubuntu or Zorin OS.

Going to go for Zorin OS. So if anyone has a detailed beginner guide to installing this it would be much appreciated.

the parking brake was sticking on the car I'm fixing up to put on the road

no problem, I just took apart the parking brake on my other car and removed it because it was seizing up in the cable. surely this car that's 4 years newer, slightly more economy, and from another non-american brand will be just as easy to do.

so I load up 1Aauto on YouTube as I eat dinner, and about 5 minutes into the video I'm starting to get a weird feeling because the guy is disconnecting the knuckle from the suspension to access the caliper bolt. that seems weird, I think. I pause the video to get something to drink, and I noticed that it's a one hour long video. (note: typically these videos are about 7 to 12 minutes - 1Aauto is fantastic and concise on all the videos I've watched for my other car).

anyways, I'd seen enough, so I stopped watching and went out to the car. but I was only about 15 minutes in. to be fair, at least half of that was dealing with multiple levels of escalation to torch out the brake shoes.

The 3.0 tdi V6 in the Audi A6 C6 is a very tight fit.

Audi also puts a biturbo V10 in the same engine compartment. Good luck to anyone who buys one. One of the coolest wagons ever made, but most jobs begin with the engine and transmission getting dropped.
