Xbox and Playstation are dying because they've raised the prices on a decade old genertion of consoles whereas previous generations got cheaper as time went on to expand the player base.

Gaming companies are now being explicit about the fact you don't actually own the game and they can shut it down whenever they want.

Studios grind developers into the dust then fire them the day after a game launches, even if it's wildly successful.

You have to pay upwards of $100 to get a game that doesn't intentionally have base aspects pulled out of it so the standard eddition of games are noticeably lacking.

Obviously all of this has nothing to do with capitalism and the only thing wrong with these studios is they included a female character that isn't wearing a shoestring bikini in this gritty post apocalyptic setting.

I just wanna know why these guys believe Microsoft etc. are so insistent on their "woke agenda". If DEI is causing boycotts which lead to studios shutting down, why are the corporations doing it? Personal convictions?

This is beyond terminally stupid. There are more games than there ever have been ever. Thousands a day. More chud shit AND more woke shit. Its just more everything. Definitely nothing to do with the onslaught of union busting, offshoring, intentionally buying out and killing competition, ai generated slop, saturated market, ue5 games that barely run, skyrocketing hardware costs, massive layoffs, huge inflation and constant chasing of the infamous forever game at the cost of everyone and everything for a market that had no interest in moving away from sportsball, cod and fortnite.

I am like the one true gamer and i barely can finish one game every 3 months these days. When theres thousands being released and every game insists on being 20+ hours at £80 when the alternative is my existing catalogue of titles, emulators etc why the fuck would anyone buy new games.

I want to see the pretzels they contort themselves in if I point out that the original Halo was extremely woke, by gamer standards. Cortana has purple,short hair and small (by gamer standards and later sequels) breasts, Sergeant Johnson is black, there are many unnamed marines of color, etc.

I have completely the opposite opinion, the problem is actually that they're not brave enough to do anything different. All they do is rehash the same formula over and over again.

The fascist human empire needs a civil war to spice things up. Then you can sell the franchise to two different audiences through stories told from two different angles, the fascist viewpoint and the liberatory viewpoint.

In addition to that, since the war with the covenant ended, various independent outposts should seek their own independence again. This was exactly why the spartan program itself was created, as a child-reared assassin program to assassinate leaders of rebellions. Those rebellions should restart as various factions tertiary to the main civil war.

You would pretty much end up with One Piece in space. Then you can do whatever you want, throw the flood into conflicts every now and then for funsies.

it's weird seeing this because back in the 10s the consensus was that halo faded away because they kept reheating the same shit over and over. even as early as halo 4 you could see it, it just the same as halo reach but with a few "new" guns, reach itself being the same as halo 3 but with special abilities ("equipment"). i played a bit of infinite multiplayer way back when it came out and tbh it just felt like reach but like 10% faster.

Halo died when 343 took it over. Not because it got woke, just because it tried to become a Call of Duty clone. The last good Halo game, Reach, came out in 2010. The series has been defunct now for coming up on two decades - way before there was "woke" and "SJWs" and gamergate shit.

I don't understand why they're always so angry about it. They think they've "solved" the problem and therefore anyone not listening to them is going to fail. But they get really, really mad whenever people don't listen, rather than the smug lib "told you so" sort of attitude I would expect.

I mean, it's probably because their predictions about "go woke, go broke" all rely on complete lies and deception, and on some level they probably understand their claims have no basis in reality, and that's why they're so mad, but it's hard to tell if they are actually aware of that, or they just don't know how to deal with the cognitive dissonance and that's why they get so mad.
