It's just good to get something in this website for casual viewing whilst refreshing original content is added overtime.

Cant even read posts on the browser without being interrupted about a minute in saying to use their stupid fucking app. Reddit is trash.
If you use old.reddit.com, at least on chrome mobile, it doesn’t do this. That’s how I’ve gotten around that pop up. It’s more than mildly infuriating tbh.
They've recently started blocking access to old.reddit.com without logging in.
Don't log into an account.
Browse the Internet like normal.
If x.com or reddit.com won't let you view without privacy, they're dead and useless.
Have some spine; lead, and stop following and being led by evil people and companies.
They don't even try to lie effectively. Why in Hell's name would you need to log in to "keep reddit safe" just to lurk?
My only guess is because they want to force AI scrapers to pay for access. And most scrapers probably work best on old.reddit because they keep changing new Reddit’s layout. As a programmer, if you’re going to code something to access a site, (and you don’t want to constantly have to rework it every time they make a small UI update) you’re going to use the version that never changes. So by forcing them to log in, it makes tracking the individual users (and thus, identifying potential unauthorized scraper accounts) easier.

Porque no los dos? Of course don't feed reddit with content for them to sell, or aimlessly browse the frontpage. If you need information on a niche subject, or refer to something that happened in 2011, don't burden yourself to avoid reddit. Just set yourself to be in read only mode with ad blockers to the max so you get more from them then they get from you.
It is still unfortunately the go-to landing spot for basically any “I’m having an obscure tech issue and only one person posted about this specific error code six years ago” type of search.
Everybody in here that's saying "don't use Reddit" is either posing, or never has to troubleshoot or research anything.
I use both redlib and piefed on a daily basis.
I haven't logged in to reddit for years, but there's loads more content there for niche topics.

Yeah, fuck Reddit, but there's a lot of good information up there, even if it's currently run by paedophiles. People who were on Twitter before Elon Musk bought it still enjoy their communities even though the site is owned by an AI company that generates CSAM.
There's so many niche communities I used to rely on Reddit for. Bike commuting, DIY, sous vide recipes. I like this place but it's just not the same. And I feel like once it starts getting to the same size it will get enshittified like everything else. Ugh
Well luckily (for now) you can still read any posts there without logging in if you follow the link from a search engine.
If you are looking for a specific post copying the address into google and clicking on it from there for instance will get you the reddit post without logging in.

That's difficult when searching for discussion relating to technical issues. Even without adding "site:reddit.com" it comes up with higher quality information in comments from like 7 years ago.
And the garbage finished taking itself out. Wonderful.
Logging in makes reddit safe?
Trying to figure out how read only access while not logged in makes anything unsafe my brain hurt.
The argument given is that it's a barrier to AI scrapers. So it keeps them safer. From competition.

The Firefox extension Old Reddit Redirect works great. However, fuck Reddit.
at least it did because that's the one i had and it still blocked it; agree reddit is garbage but half the links in search lead to it so when you're trying to find something, it kinda sucks not being able to access it.
Reddit is such a disgusting shit heap these days. There are still some subreddits worth lurking in but the majority is flooded with AI posts.
It used to be so nice.

I can't believe how bad it is now. There is no real news. It used to be interesting but it's so watered down that it's basically pointless. Couple that with the quality of major news outlets, and we're basically experiencing a media blackout.

Just deleted a Reddit account that was created in 2009 - I could no longer justify generating revenue of any kind for that $hitty company. The only reason they do literally anything is for money, nothing else

The app and new reddit are absolute garbage. I'd even call it hostile design. Always has been. Ugh.
