They could have invested and voted to ensure prosperity continued at least for a bit longer.
But no they picked Reagan. Who slashed all wealth taxes and tore the solar panels off the white house.
We could have followed Norway's example and established a sovereign wealth fund, but no those profits must flow.
They picked Reagan after of Carter for the same reasons they voted in Nixon after LBJ did the civil rights act or voted in Trump after Obama got the presidency -- too much progressive change for a settler colonial state.

That's why I never learned to read.
He wasn't considered fat until the later seasons.
But the poor thing is absolutely true.
Even back then it was stretching the bounds of believability that a shoe salesman could afford that house in that neighborhood with a stay at home mom and two teenagers to feed
Feed? That house almost never had food in it.
I used to work at a department store in the late 90s, and there were employees there who worked full time and either owned a very modest house or at least a decent apartment and lived somewhat comfortably.
(So no, maybe not THAT specific house but the point stands, try and make even a livable wage selling shoes in 2026)

And she shares a rent-controlled apartment with a roommate (who was probably good-natured enough to help her cover rent on months she came up short).
Fuck Friends, the whole white bread premise and all privileged fans and setup.
