MODERATORS
I've said it for years, you vote for Trump for one of three reasons (usually multiple of the three listed but at the very least one).

I haven't seen a single Trump voter that doesn't fulfill at least one of these requirements, and I still feel nothing for them. If I could transpose all the suffering they've caused to others onto them, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
I read a comment from a dude deep in MAGA territoryand he said the rest of us simply don't know how isolated they are news wise, everybody thinks the same and FOX et al play on TV and radio 24/7 in restaruants, bars, at work, at home, like they are surrounded by literally nothing but hard core propaganda.
I don't live there, but I'm willing to believe that at face value. Shit, USA/CIA has known how effective political propaganda is since they cut their teeth in Central and South America (they did it in lots of other places too).
The sophistication of the modern propaganda apparatus would make Goebbels blush.
People have never had access to more sources of information - they choose ignorance.
Sad that they're such assholes who lack empathy that they are only regretting their vote now that it's hurting them.
They didn't and probably still don't care about the grift, the racism, the rape, the dictatorship, et cetera.
They're garbage people and I don't feel bad for them. If they turn away from all the other stuff - then I'll have some empathy.
IMO they haven't been hurt enough. I want farms lost. Jobs lost, I want them broken
And then what? What does this accomplish? What’s the end goal beyond more suffering?

Anyone who has not noticed that Trump cares solely about Trump should get their head checked.
I've listened to these podcasts about people who get caught up in like Nigerian Prince scams for real, and they give all their money away, sell their houses, their cars, lose custody of their children and wives who leave them over it, and even when everything is hopelessly lost they still keep thinking that, but maybe it IS real.
That's what MAGA feels like.
They know, but can't admit they are wrong, ever. So they double down.
They voted for somebody just like them who only cares about himself.
I didn't want someone who only cares about themselves! I wanted someone who only cared about me! That's why j joined narcissism club, to be around like minded people who love me!
There's a lot of debate over how we "ought" to view these people. Man, feel how you wanna feel. You have a right to be angry with them. Fuck, they are stupid assholes. You can also feel pity and have a desire to find common ground. It's normal to celebrate a redemption arc.
But one thing you can't argue, is that the signs weren't there. That those folks had no way of knowing that Trump was a grifting, lying, narcissistic, rapist idiot criminal. All these dumb fucks on tv acting surprised, not doing themselves any favors right now. Look inward, realize you're an imbecile or a bigoted shitheel for buying into his bullshit, and then start over. Get on tv and say "holy fuck I am a bad person" and that redemption arc gets realistic.
at this point i don't even need them to admit they're anything but angelic of mind, all i need them to admit is "i made a mistake, i fucked up and should have acted differently".
And yet even that is beyond most trump voters.

These people are so mentally defective 🤦♀️ they're so incapable of caring about others and they're only ever thinking about themselves that they vote for people just like them who also only think about themselves, then they're actually surprised when their candidates only think about themselves.
Of course he fucking does not care. He is way to busy milking as much money as he can get out of the presidency while distracting or even getting immunities for the crimes he committed. Why should he care for people who were dumb enough to vote for him?
It's safe but also, they voted for this. They wanted the bad stuff for others, they just didn't wanted the bad stuff happen to them.
So fuck these people. If they run out of money and lose their business? Good! If they become homeless? Great! If they die of hunger because of trump? Even fucking better.
I don't care a single shit about these people. They voted to make the entire world worse just so they would get some magical step ahead, and now it backfired and now the entire world including them is fucked.
I'm not American, I don't live there, yet even my life had been severely negatively affected by these assholes, and now they want my pity? Fuck you! Suffer, die, I won't care about them

Honestly If half of you country is like these people, you'd better secede and leave them try to live their bigoted selfish lives at their fullest to see what happens.
They don't have a grain of empathy, introspection, education or critical thinking.
If anything, this shitshow shown people's true colours and we know some of them are barely monkeys with guns. I dont want to live next to these assholes.
USian here, and it's as sad as it is scary. So many people like this lead a lazy passive existence where they put so little thought into their lives that they can be led to vote for Trump for over a decade and only today be surprised like this. And those are the "good" ones who are merely ignorant and self-centered, that aren't just proud to be nazis.
Here on Lemmy we talk about problems like controlled opposition and implicit support of genocide on the other side of the world. But compared with the median american voter we are like those geologists in the meme about how experts in a field wildly over estimate the general public's knowledge of their field. And I am NOT saying we Lemmings are policy experts -- I'm saying the average schmuck is that far behind our internet "discourse" bullshit.

How do these people think politics work. I mean do they think that voting for a person or a party grants them some kind of personal (parasocial) relationship?
I'm pretty sure that exists outside the US also, but I have only seen that coming from the US so far.
That is just the right wing populism playbook. They know that their most ardent voters are several chicken nuggets short of a happy meal, so they turn it into a us vs them contest, as if politics was a sport.
It works because these people lack critical thinking skills, they never ask the obvious question, "why would a billionaire do things that would harm billionaires?"

Im already pretty much ruined, and I didn't vote for this asshole. I hope that whomever did is killed by his antics. I want them to be on the receiving end of ICE. I hope they find their way into a concentration camp.
