By not posting links to CBS News on Lemmy. Don’t give them your clicks.
Block them at the dns level
thier power lies in thier subscriptions, the less people subscribed to paramount+, which apparently is already hemmorhaging money from the streaming services, thier costs get higher. Also nutrek is likely whats keeping it alive for the moment, even though they cancelled most of the shows.
Boycott their advertisers
This is most effective when people pick one at a time.
If you’re watching Colbert on YouTube, you aren’t watching anything on CBS
You're just trading one terrible company for another.
Best practice is to pirate that shit. 😌
of course if you have to watch it, USE adblock, so youtube and cbs does not get any ad revenue.

I’ve been running a Plex server for 20 years, and subscribe to zero streaming services nor cable. I’m pretty sure I’m doing at least something right.
Edit: and before you jellyfin evangelists dogpile— i’ll migrate when it is ready. I look forward to that day, I really do, but it’s just not mature enough yet. I’m keeping my eye on it, and I’ll switch when the day comes. ❤️
I tried Plex and Jellyfin, but the only one that has worked effectively for me has been Emby.

don't you hate it when you want to boycott a product, but you never used it anyways?
I feel it about Chik-fil-a. I would boycott them for their anti-LGBTQ+ bullshit, but I already boycott them for having the most basic bitch chicken that only marginally surpasses Cane's (the blandest chicken ever) in terms of flavor.
On the other hand, I grew up drinking more coke than water. it was always in my house growing up. And was my go to drink until a few years ago. Boycotting them was a pain for me. I'm so happy some shops now sell Palestine Cola. Besides that using a boycott app makes groceries a pain in the tusch

Pretty easy to boycott CBS when the only thing on CBS I watched was Colbert 🤷♂️
Star Trek stuff on Paramount wasn't terribad, but it's all canceled now so /shrug - Colbert was the last thing remaining for me.
Yeah, the Star Trek on Paramount predicament has not made me a "happy camper."
Same except I only watched Colbert on Youtube.
I will continue to never watch network TV.

I started boycotting CBS the moment the Ellisons bought it. I won't watch any of their news programs, local or national. There might be an occasional TV show, but I'll try to download it instead.
I may pirate NFL games even if they are on local TV. Fuck em
Stop watching CBS, cancel your Paramount subscription. Hurt them were it hurts most, their wallets.

I haven't seen any new Star Trek since.

Larry Ellison and his hellspawn are a blight on society.
The fact that businesses sell or are allowed to be taken over by bad actors is a direct failure of capitalism. Companies operating with no regards to reputation is only beneficial when operating as service providers in a monopoly. Why so many allow mergers and buyouts from the worst of society are common truly speaks to the comically stupid system where stockholders would some how prefer their investment be overwritten by a comic book villain who's going to use the company for villain shit to just not doing that... is it that the stockholders aren't like us, that it's CEOs chasing a bonus, that relationships we're not provvy to overwrite business interests, or all of the above?
I haven't watched broadcast TV in over ten years I think the last thing I watched was the 2014 Winter Olympics.
The only way I can currently get broadcast TV is through Famelack.
