CBS cancelled it's best show to lick a pedos nut

[–] favoredponcho@lemmy.zip 2 points 13 minutes ago

They also ruined 60 minutes and the evening news. They’ve shat on their best programming. There is no reason to watch.

[–] osanna@lemmy.vg 20 points 2 hours ago

I wasn’t watching it anyway, but I’m gonna not watch it even harder now

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 5 points 1 hour ago

Stop watching CBS, cancel your Paramount subscription. Hurt them were it hurts most, their wallets.

[–] Leviathan@lemmy.world 27 points 3 hours ago

I will continue to never watch network TV.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmings.world 14 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

I started boycotting CBS the moment the Ellisons bought it. I won't watch any of their news programs, local or national. There might be an occasional TV show, but I'll try to download it instead.

[–] Raiderkev@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

I may pirate NFL games even if they are on local TV. Fuck em

[–] FauxPseudo@lemmy.world 8 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago) (2 children)

I cancelled my CBS+ the moment they fired Colbert.

I haven't seen any new Star Trek since.

Piracy is awesome

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 31 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

Pretty easy to boycott CBS when the only thing on CBS I watched was Colbert 🤷‍♂️

[–] ramenshaman@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

Same except I only watched Colbert on Youtube.

[–] TrumpetX@programming.dev 6 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Star Trek stuff on Paramount wasn't terribad, but it's all canceled now so /shrug - Colbert was the last thing remaining for me.

[–] BeMoreCareful@lemmy.world 1 points 26 minutes ago

Yeah, the Star Trek on Paramount predicament has not made me a "happy camper."

[–] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 33 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

don't you hate it when you want to boycott a product, but you never used it anyways?

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 11 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

I feel it about Chik-fil-a. I would boycott them for their anti-LGBTQ+ bullshit, but I already boycott them for having the most basic bitch chicken that only marginally surpasses Cane's (the blandest chicken ever) in terms of flavor.

On the other hand, I grew up drinking more coke than water. it was always in my house growing up. And was my go to drink until a few years ago. Boycotting them was a pain for me. I'm so happy some shops now sell Palestine Cola. Besides that using a boycott app makes groceries a pain in the tusch

How do you boycott a network if you already don't watch any other shows on it?

[–] reddig33@lemmy.world 41 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

By not posting links to CBS News on Lemmy. Don’t give them your clicks.

[–] Bakkoda@lemmy.world 4 points 3 hours ago

Block them at the dns level

[–] Klox@lemmy.world 39 points 8 hours ago

Spread the boycott.

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago

This is most effective when people pick one at a time.

You people can't do anything right.

Boycott Paramount AND all their assets.

I’ve been running a Plex server for 20 years, and subscribe to zero streaming services nor cable. I’m pretty sure I’m doing at least something right.

Edit: and before you jellyfin evangelists dogpile— i’ll migrate when it is ready. I look forward to that day, I really do, but it’s just not mature enough yet. I’m keeping my eye on it, and I’ll switch when the day comes. ❤️

[–] NewNewAugustEast@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

I wouldn't have said anything but as a user of both, jellyfin is my go to. It has surpassed Plex.

[–] homes@piefed.world 2 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

I’m interested in hearing how, as a user of both, it has, for you, surpassed plex

[–] NewNewAugustEast@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago) (1 children)

Its much faster to connect, plays everywhere at anytime, its layout doesn't have bullshit and gets right to the point so I can click and start watching right away. No additional crap I have to filter out, no stupid suggestions, and I like the info pages more.

For the rare times I am using a mobile client (like a tablet) I can do normal things like using swipe up and down for bright and volume and speed ahead and back.

I always choose jellyfin first.

For what it's worth: plexpass holder for over a decade.

[–] homes@piefed.world 1 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

I don’t have any of those problems with Plex. And the jellyfin interface is absolute garbage. It looks like some high school kid slapped it together for a class project.

It’s missing all of the library cross-linking that I rely on with Plex, especially because the three Plex servers. I administer have at least 8 different libraries, one of them has 12. Plex looks slick and professional. Just like I think it should. Jellyfin looks like a class project, slapped together at the last minute.

For me, Plex loads very, very quickly, and I don’t get any performance boost from jellyfin.

And now that you mention mobile access, I can count on Plex running smoothly and reliably across any client on any device anywhere. And a reliable native app is available on pretty much any platform. With jelly fin, I have to fish around for a client that works on a few platforms, if I’m lucky, and they’re unreliable, unstable, and lacking in most of the features that I know Plex has had for a decade or more.

For me, for the scale of media and the number of servers, I’m administering, it’s not even a choice. I hope jelly Finn gets there eventually, but they are years away from that point.

[–] NewNewAugustEast@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago) (1 children)

It doesn't load quickly unless you avoid Plex servers, because authentication happens through them.

Jellyfins interface is great what are you talking about? Easy, quick and to the point. Does exactly what I want.

Plex cant make up its mind what to do as they keep making it worse. More clicks to get anywhere and adding their own crap all the time.

Sorry, Plex is a mess. I just opened it now, and its so bad.

[–] homes@piefed.world 0 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

I’ve never had this issue

As for the interface, the Plex interface is to the point. Jellyfin is missing a huge amount of additional information that both I and my users rely on. If you just want very simple information, fine. But both I in my users don’t. They expect a rich media experience that Plex delivers and jellyfin does not.

I guess it really comes down to which experience delivers what you’re looking for. Plex delivers what I’m looking for and what my users are looking for. Jellyfin just doesn’t. But I’m glad that you’re getting what you want. And that’s what makes it the better choice for you and what makes Plex the better choice for me and my users.

[–] NewNewAugustEast@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Well yes you do sit and wait for Plex to log you in and for their logo. Jellyfin is up and ready to go nearly instantly.

I think jellyfin does have the information I want, but gets out of the way and lets me get on with it. All the extra crap Plex ads like their own channels, searching outside my libraries is all just more stuff I have to turn off.

However, I think it's ok to say it works for you and jellyfin works for me.

Which is about different than jellyfin needs to catch up. It's already surpassed Plex for some.

[–] homes@piefed.world 0 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

I’m glad you get the experience you want, but I don’t know how you can say it has “surpassed Plex, by having a 1/50th of the features.

And if your main complaint is that you have to disable some of them, or wait a couple of seconds for a splash screen once a week/month when you have to reload the app, those don’t really seem like reasonable complaints to me.

But, like I said, if you’re getting the experience you want, good for you. It’s just not the experience I want, or my users want.

[–] NewNewAugustEast@lemmy.zip 0 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago) (1 children)

Lol 1/50th Features? You mean all the shit Plex adds to make it suck?

You are really exaggerating. What exactly can Plex do that jellyfin doesn't? Not counting the crap like thier own ad channels.

I can think of maybe 2 and one of them is the easy remote access if you use them to login.

Hell, jellyfin still lets you watch together, which Plex took away.

The feature I miss the most from Plex though is photo sync. That was really handy and then they took it away.

"I’ve been running a Plex server for 20 years, and subscribe to zero streaming services nor cable. "

I feel like you want me to scratch you behind your ears and call you a "good boy"

Who's a good boy? Who's a good boy? Does little Homes want a treat? Treat?

I tried Plex and Jellyfin, but the only one that has worked effectively for me has been Emby.

Well ......

You mean Comedy Central? Home of The Daily Show?

I think I'll continue to enthusiastically support The Daily Show.

I’m not 85 years old so I’ve been unintentionally boycotting CBS for years now
