As of today, there isn't a place in the US where gas is below $4/gallon, according to GroundNews

[–] RampantParanoia2365@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago) (1 children)

A station in Iowa had gas for $1.85...but I was down to less than $2/gallon

... isn't $1.85 under $2.00? I swear 1 came before 2 when I learned.

Welcome to the trump era, where up is down and black is white.

[–] RampantParanoia2365@lemmy.world 1 points 44 minutes ago

~~And~~ But where we can't piece together the simplest sentences.

[–] Theoriginalthon@lemmy.world 9 points 12 hours ago

Just remember that the current UK equivalent is $8.30 for Diesel and $7.88 for gas/petrol

I'm sure you can do better

[–] regedit@lemmy.zip 19 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Even more fucked when you consider these are the prices in the US with oil subsidies. It would be so much more expensive without them, and only gas-powered vehicles would be paying, and not all of us...

[–] Timecircleline@sh.itjust.works 6 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Except that all goods require shipping and most shipping is also done by gas powered vehicles. I wish there was a way to opt out but I don't see it being possible.

[–] Trev625@sopuli.xyz 2 points 4 hours ago

Well if there wasn't a subsidy then it would probably be easier to have some long haul trucks switch to hydrogen or lithium ion or come up with something new. We could even subsidize those instead. I would probably do it over time, though, shrinking the subsidy a little bit every year. Eventually we would want some sort of environmental cost being factored in. With these changing slowly over time, it would incentivize new long haul trucks being alternative fuel while also not straight up destroying all current trucking infrastructure and fleets.

We are ruled by the dumbest dipshits on the planet.

They're dumb but they're also ruthless, they rape and kill children with their bare hands, don't underestimate them just because they're dumb.

[–] Rekorse@sh.itjust.works 6 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

For some reason that's the biggest bummer of it all to me, how incredibly dumb and powerful these people are. I'm starting to think someone has to be dumb to want to exert power over another person in the first place. I'm sure it fuels their egos too.

I wonder what its like to live like that, it sounds incredibly foreign.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.cafe 2 points 12 hours ago

Intelligence and the drive for ruthless power aren't necessarily connected. For these dumb MAGA Apes, ruthless power is just a toy to play with.

Let them eat cake...

[–] FistingEnthusiast@lemmy.world 18 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Americans have had cheap fuel since forever

They also seem to like stupid vehicles that are incredibly inefficient

I love my little electric car. I have solar at home and have never once charged at a station and paid for it

[–] roker@thelemmy.club 1 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

you don't have to pay at a charge station? Did I miss something?

[–] FistingEnthusiast@lemmy.world 4 points 5 hours ago

I've never had to use a charge station

I charge for free with my solar system

He's never filled his own gas tank. He has no idea what the fuck we are talking about.

[–] Spacehooks@reddthat.com 3 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

He doesnt know what the second pedal is for.

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 5 points 13 hours ago

Neither did his parents, apparently

[–] ThomasWilliams@lemmy.world 5 points 20 hours ago

You povvos have no idea.

FFS, you can't keep polo horses in Manhatten, the noise and pollution stresses them.

It's a peanut, Michael! How much could it cost?

[–] dizzle18@lemmy.zip 12 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Speaking of peanuts, I really wish this fuck would choke on one.

[–] dual_sport_dork@lemmy.world 3 points 9 hours ago

We could try a pretzel. It almost worked on Bush the 2nd.

[–] o0evillusion0o@sh.itjust.works 2 points 15 hours ago

No chance. He's used to having little things in his mouth.

I learned that from the TRUMP-EPSTEIN FILES (TM)

[–] Soulphite@reddthat.com 47 points 1 day ago (10 children)

I dunno how much longer Bobby John from Oklahoma can take filling up his RAM 3500 Dually lifted XTREME offRoad Pavement Princess Edition™ @ $150 a pop for much longer, Mr. Pedo. You're making your cult followers very angry!

Keep it up!

[–] architect@thelemmy.club 0 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Why does no one seem to care about this outside of the internet?

On the internet, we all agree. Off the internet? It’s like I’m speaking a different language.

[–] Amir@lemmy.ml 1 points 4 hours ago

You're on a bubble of a website here

[–] the_tab_key@lemmy.world 46 points 1 day ago (30 children)

The baseline tank size for a ram 3500 is 32 gallons. Diesel is $5.74/gal on average in the Midwest. So a full fill up is ~$184/tank. You underestimated that, yikes.

For more fun, you can also upgrade to a 50 gallon tank, making it $287/tank.

These get a respectable ~18 mpg, so $0.32 per mile.

Just throwing money away

[–] socsa@piefed.social 21 points 1 day ago (4 children)

They get 18mpg when you drive them like a fucking baby on the highway. Your average idiot who floors it at every stoplight, and does 90 on the interstate gets half that.

[–] LastYearsIrritant@sopuli.xyz 2 points 15 hours ago

It gets between 11-12 mpg on average according to user reports at Fuelly

Diesel is around $6/gal depending on where you live.

It costs around $0.50/mile to drive a Ram 3500 6L just in fuel. On average. Across thousands of drivers that reported data.
