Dodi Repacks, the second most prolific and well-known repacker of pirated games behind FitGirl, has broken the hearts of piracy aficionados worldwide today, as Dodi has just announced in a “Roadmap” update on his website that he’s scaling back his piracy operation so he can… get married and become a lawyer? Saul Goodman, is that you?

First day at law school they realised that pirating might not be entirely legal.

He's really not going to like finding out what happens to people trying to get licensed with active warrants

I've made a huge mistake

Too bad, as a Linux user their repacks always seemed to work better for me then FitGirls. OTOH I have always hated all the third party link providers used, that were constantly trying to trick users into downloading malware.

Best of luck to them in the future.

Do you have any guides/tips on working with repacks in Lutris or Wine? I've had some issues with FG as well.

I don't think there is much you can do if you get an unarc error but I usually point people to this guide for getting repacks to work on lutris

The install works fine, just can't get it to actually start without crashing/use Lutris.

Considering that he's literally the world's second-most famous purveyor of ethically-sourced video games, I'd say he will most definitely be needing that law degree at some point in the foreseeable future.

May the wind be at your back DODI, and the sun upon your face.

He really had a change in perspective when he almost died lmao.

Why would Saul Goodman spebd his time doung something as ethical and unprofitable as supporting piracy?

[–] not@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 3 days ago

Dodi? As in "Dodi's decompiler for Visual Basic 3" He's been in the game for a long time then.

were they one of those "piracy is legal" people? bc i always thought that argument was dumb. it isn't and it's legality is irrelevant anyway because legality has 0 bearing on morality.

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 1 points 4 days ago

Depends on the definition of 'legal'.

Any sensible legal system would consider piracy a civil matter, not a criminal matter. And I'd only call violations of criminal law truly 'illegal'.

The packers become the gamekeepers, or something like that.
