Many people don't know that the Nazi party took many an inspiration from the American south. Even the Nazi's were taken aback in some cases by how harshly white Americans treated blacks and wrote segregation into their laws.

Nazis respected the confederacy, even looked up to it. "Where did all these fascists come from?" Well, they were always here because we didn't punish them enough. And project paperclip welcomed in Nazi members, even SS members, and gave them land.

Moved to Alabama when I was around 30 to work for army.

It's quite the culture shock. All the evangelical christians act like they are high on Heroin. They spend all day Sunday at church, and yet are complete oblivious to how they trample the teachings of christ in they daily lives. Pointing it out to them is fruitless.

Sounds like Utah

The evangelicals are easily one of, if not the least Christ-like flavor. If you're not one of them then you're treated like the devil incarnate a lot of the time.

The other big extreme flavor, Mormons, have some batshit crazy beliefs but at least they have a strong family focus and generally overall positive demeanor to others. Yeah they may be one of the richest organizations on the planet and use a laughably small percentage of that wealth for anything resembling humanitarian issues, but they're not openly hostile to anyone that thinks differently than them.

Huntsville Area / the Arsenal? I grew up in Mississippi and know first-hand how blatant the hypocrisy is among that crowd, especially since I also currently have family in North AL and New Orleans.

For most, they don't even think it's hypocritical because they grew up using excuses to justify their hatred. Using biblical passages to point out their hypocrisy just results in most of them thinking you're the one twisting the Word of God.

It's funny since they would say this to the fricking pope as well. Christianity in the US is so fucking strange man

I've been saying this for a long time and I'll say it again.

Stop comparing MAGA to Nazi Germany. They have much more in common with the Confederate States of America and are rooted in American racism.

Something can look like two things at the same time though, an orange can look like a small disco ball because both are round and it can also like a thick carrot because both are orange. Yet thick carrots do not look like small disco balls.

The more Christian a state is, the more racist and reprehensible the shithole becomes.

In USA we often think North vs. South, but to me it's secular vs. Christian.

There are those that defend the more "reasonable" Christians, like Protestants, and not to lump them in with the "prosperity gospel" Christians, like Baptists. But remember, the "reasonable" Christians often finance and empower the fundies, and, even more importantly, they provide them with a veneer of rational respectability. However, they are just different faces of the same beast.

Protestants are to Baptists as Democrats are to Republicans, a more rational public face that helps to protect their "evil twin".

Baptists are Protestant homie
