If someone at Valve had a change of heart, or just want to save their hides after that, either way, a major company pushing for things that result in #deshittification is a win-win situation afaik. =)

But jokes aside, I'd say it's closer to being part of an oligopoly. And when a player of such market dynamic moves in an "undesirable" way (to the others involved), it lessens maneuver capacity from the others.
