Why are we hating someone for having a shitty father?

[–] RNAi@hexbear.net 1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

That's why "might", idk if she was a professional rightwing bullshiter as her father, or better or worse

I can't remember whether it's a nick land alt or just a guy who's a big fan of his work

[–] Mardoniush@hexbear.net 12 points 2 months ago (3 children)

The twitter rando is, unfortunately, Nick Land.

How does one go all Roman Catholic about it? Feel guilty about something?

[–] Mardoniush@hexbear.net 8 points 2 months ago

Nick Land embracing Catholic Social Teaching would be a pivot for sure.

[–] UmbraVivi@hexbear.net 27 points 2 months ago (1 children)

What is that even supposed to mean?

[–] cosecantphi@hexbear.net 41 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I think maybe they are lamenting that rich "leftists" (neoliberals who are not explicitly, outwardly racist, misogynistic, and queerphobic) have taken control of large social media companies and are imposing advertiser friendly rules on right wing spaces, and they see it as the woke being forced upon them?

[–] PKMKII@hexbear.net 23 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Ironically, I had the opposite interpretation, that they’re lamenting that the right is too hung up on cultural issues, which they attribute as being a thing that came out of the “left”. They think the right needs to return to cut and dry capitalist economics as conservative politics goes off the rails without it.

That we can come to such widely different conclusions speaks to how vague the tweet is.

It's even more embarrassing that we are losing to such idiots.

I don't think the people with actual power think like this

[–] BattleshipPokemon@hexbear.net 17 points 2 months ago (1 children)

J D Vance and Peter Thiel are both massive fans of this guy, Elon Musk is probably too insofar as he's seen some memes on twitter about him and thinks he sounds cool

You can't imagine the monetary gains i've made from abstaining from investing and any other form of capital gains on principle

I actually just bought my second senator (I wanted to buy my first media corporation first)

"still trying to work this out"

I'd probably start with the infinite growth on a finite planet stuff and work towards an addiction to oil. From there I might look at the inefficiencies until I could dip my toes into violent enforcement of waste. From there it's pretty open world seeing as how you could go to the violent enforcement of empire, the distribution of resources, or externalities. Personally, my recommendation would be distribution of resources because if the original inquiry was "something is wrong with the theory" then distribution would lead one to see China outcompeting the US under a different theoretical base which might make it seem more natural to view the naked fascism as stupid and evil.
