Isn't that where the premier just dropped $21m on a private jet?

Probably just coincidence..

@Carney , when are Smith and Ford getting Federally investigated for corruption and/or foreign interference?

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 13 points 3 months ago

I dont think Carney is on here :(

[–] rozodru@piefed.world 12 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I mean with Ford you really don't have to investigate hard to find he's corrupted. Look at the whole science center crap, the green belt, ontario place, etc, etc, etc. guy owes "favours" to just about every mob family in the province/country.

[–] HeroicBillyBishop@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 months ago

I agree, but you have to investigate a little at least

Perhaps (hopefully) that is happening behind the scenes and they will swoop in and arrest him....

USED jet, CHEAPER than Quebec's!!!!!!1!!

Detracting from that nothing burger and shaking chains could be what did it. 4 billion doesn't go missing without a corp benefiting.

Yes. $28.9 million CAD ($21 million USD). He is also paving Toronto island so he can land jets on it.

This is not mentioned once in this article, and the post title is not the articles headline.

Did you link the wrong article?

Also did literally no one in here read it?

The $4 billion I see is them giving it to a private firm which seems to be what we do far too often ...

I'm not sure if that's what the title was alluding to though?

There is some seriously shady shit going on with the Ford government

Don't know the exact context to this story because it just popped up on my feed, but it reminds me of a Chomsky interview about his book "Manufacturing concent". The book deals with the western media and how it controls conversations by setting the overton window.

Andrew Marr: How can you know that I'm self-censoring? How can you know that journalists are...

Noam Chomsky: I’m not saying you’re self-censoring. I’m sure you believe everything you’re saying. But what I’m saying is that if you believed something different, you wouldn’t be sitting where you’re sitting.

Noam Chomsky should be dug up and thrown into the sea, what a fucking Asshole and a prime example that america was never the good guys

[–] Numberone@startrek.website 6 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I mean the US not being the good guy was the distillation of his message.

Another person spoke about his Epstein connection which has come out recently, which is a huge disappointment. All I can say is that like 15 years ago, people like him, Norm Finkelstein and Chris Hedges helped to plant me on the left. Finding out about Epstein has been difficult to understand given his work and the effect it had on me.

Noam Chomsky is an asshole for many reason aside from this one quote, look im sorry but i have no idea how you didn't notice his awful behaviors, this post only scratches the surface, he guided people but if you look deeper you realize its just a superficial cover for awful action and self-interest, its actually surprisingly similar to what Charley Kerk was doing only his speech being con coded to push fascist ideas instead and well... he didn't get as far as Noam. you not noticing until only recently really shows how easy it is to trick large groups of people, its an aspect of us that has always bothered me.

Epstine has proven the upper crust is comprised of evil people, they cant deny that anymore. gonna be honest, don't have heros, be a hero you wish to see in others, good luck fam.

There are plenty of good arguments against chomsky, but they sure as hell aren't coming from r/neoliberal

The fact that anyone elected this guy after the travesty that was his crack smoking shitter of a brother is insa-.... Oh right... We re-elected Trump.. My bad, Toronto... Carry on and good luck.

[–] Smaile@lemmy.ca 4 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

Ironicly his brother, doge, was way better respected by people here then Rob ever was.
