Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

On fridays, you are allowed to post meme and troll questions, on the condition that it's in text format only, and conforms with our other rules. These posts MUST include the [NSQ Friday] tag in their title.

If you post a serious question on friday and are looking only for legitimate answers, then please include the [Serious] tag on your post. Irrelevant replies will then be removed by moderators.

Rule 7- You can't intentionally annoy, mock, or harass other members.

If you intentionally annoy, mock, harass, or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

Celebrate ... what?

[–] rossman@lemmy.zip 3 points 7 hours ago

Celebrate years later maybe after the repairs are showing results.

But a toast nevertheless.

[–] kittenzrulz123@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 8 hours ago

I wont celebrate until I see a successful revolution abolish capitalism

[–] Witchfire@lemmy.world 7 points 15 hours ago

I plan to book/get a tattoo that reads "I outlived the clown" under a cute clown face. I'm a circus performer so it'll be a fun talking point

[–] daychilde@lemmy.world 12 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

I won't celebrate. Not because I'm not pleased, but because the fight is not over, and unfortunately, many who "woke up" to fascism thanks to Trump will happily go right back to sleep and stop voting and stop caring, which helps the fascist Republicans continue to attack our democracy.

Trump is evil, but it's not like he's the only evil man in a sea of reason; Republicans are fascists and in many ways (i.e. sans dementia) as bad or worse.

Also, depending on how he dies, his cult will absolutely go bug-fucking bonkers, making him into a martyr, or maybe it'll spark violence. It is unlikely to end well.

[–] starlinguk@lemmy.world 12 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

He's a symptom, not the cause.

[–] cecilkorik@lemmy.ca 3 points 13 hours ago

He's arguably doing more damage to the fascist movement than he is supporting it lately. I think they will be the ones celebrating when he is gone, but they will not stop pushing fascism. The infection has metastasized extensively, and once he is gone it will really get to work.

For a hot minute I thought "So this is how I find out", but after checking a couple news sites it looks like we're still waiting.

[–] Today@lemmy.world 57 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago) (1 children)

Guy goes to the news stand every morning, looks at the stack, grumbles, and walks away. One day the seller asks him what he's looking for.

"An obituary."

"Obituaries are at the back, not on the front page."

"The one I'm looking for will be."

[–] daychilde@lemmy.world 4 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Supposedly from Russia or at least a USSR country. Makes sense.

I think we can officially borrow it now in the US…

[–] schnurrito@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 15 hours ago

I only heard it about Germany under Hitler.

Not a thing. I won't do a single thing differently other than a sigh of relief. Then I'll get back on with my day.

He wants nothing more than to be remembered. To be the center of attention.

I won't give them any more power over my life than they have already stolen.

[–] Hegar@fedia.io 2 points 12 hours ago

If he just wanted to be remembered he wouldn't get so upset about people saying bad things about him.

He would hate people celebrating his death with the collective expression of joy it deserves.

[–] JadenSmith@sh.itjust.works 5 points 16 hours ago

We're going to be waiting a while.
When we see him coming out with sunglasses, and perched up between two guys who are suspiciously close to him, only then can we estimate the time down to a couple of hours (depending on how many ads for Goya beans there are).

[–] themeatbridge@lemmy.world 16 points 21 hours ago

It's sort of like a cancer patient having a tumor removed. There's still a long road ahead to recovery, and plenty of opportunities for new tumors to replace it.

So I'm going to breathe a sigh of relief, take a few moments to enjoy the reduced weight of the world, and then prepare for the next steps.

I’ve seen people say they’re going to pull their Christmas lights back out; that would be pretty…

[–] chahn.chris@piefed.social 5 points 18 hours ago

Omg this is good, it’s Christmas all year!

[–] black_flag@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 19 hours ago (3 children)

I guess take a long nap to get ready for all you fucking libs to go back to brunch and forget there's still an empire to fight.

[–] Today@lemmy.world 2 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago)

Was that the brunch comment? No biggie. It's not a super serious discussion- just an internet post on No Stupid Questions. A certain percentage of responses are expected to be negativish. That's what keeps the web spinning.

If all the magats who posted HE IS RISEN yesterday (for their friends to see) actually went to church, my favorite brunch places would be easier to get into.

Unrequited love is a hard thing but I imagine unrequited hatred must be worse.

[–] daychilde@lemmy.world 1 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

You might not be wrong, but you can still choose to be a prick about it, I guess.

Which I guess is good for me to see and remind myself that when I feel the same frustration with people for believing things I think are stupid to believe, raging at them doesn't help much. Doesn't relieve my anger and frustration, and certainly doesn't change any minds.

It sucks, though, because it's not fair to read all the things idiots write that are achingly stupid, and have to try to keep replies not making oneself look like an asshat. I constantly fail at that.

[–] black_flag@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah you have a point I don't think I'd come at someone IRL like that over wanting to celebrate Trump's death. I just...don't feel any victory in that moment and already hear centrists gearing up for another right wing democrat president taking everyone's attention.

[–] daychilde@lemmy.world 2 points 16 hours ago

Right there with ya. Or at least 95%+ from the sound of it. When Trump is gone, the problems are not - fascists are still there. And then the people who "woke up" because of Trumpe will go back to sleep and fuck us over by no longer voting again.

[–] Hegar@fedia.io 7 points 19 hours ago

I live in portland so I imagine the bars here will have drink specials, parks will be filled with celebrating stoners, etc.

Probably we'll walk to the nearest clump of bars and join the celebration.

[–] ClownStatue@piefed.social 4 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

I've said for awhile that I refuse to wish for the death of anyone. Just bad Karma there.

BUT, I never said I wouldn't celebrate the death of a bad person. So I'm ordering a bad person's recent quote about another person's death to be printed on a T-shirt I will only wear twice: on the day the bad person dies, and on the day of that person's funeral.

...

I may wear it subsequent times on the bad person's birthday.

[–] chris@l.roofo.cc 1 points 11 hours ago

I don't have a problem with wishing bad things. My wishes don't have any power. They won't change a thing.

I also don't believe in karma. Too many bad things happen to good people and vice versa.

[–] shittydwarf@sh.itjust.works 6 points 21 hours ago

I've fantasized about which meme to post countless times

[–] rangber@lemmy.zip 5 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Good foods, good sex, good sleep.

[–] albbi@piefed.ca 3 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Sorry, best you can do is 2 out of 3.

[–] kurcatovium@piefed.social 2 points 15 hours ago

I wasn't hungry anyways...

[–] ClockworkOtter@lemmy.world 1 points 15 hours ago

Maybe much the same as when we last had a general election in the UK.

[–] cAUzapNEAGLb@lemmy.world 3 points 19 hours ago

A long time ago i bought the cheapest bottle of sparking wine i could, my friends know i have it too - when it happens - well meet and open the bottle, cheer and weep, and prepare for whatever happens next

Given congress and his cabinet and such im not sure I would do much of any.

[–] starlinguk@lemmy.world 3 points 15 hours ago

His replacement believes anything he doesn't understand is caused by aliens and demons. Soooo... yeah.

[–] kkj@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 16 hours ago

Yeah, it would probably be better if he survives until the midterms.

[–] Flax_vert@feddit.uk 3 points 20 hours ago

Celebrate what?
