Samsung Messages to Google Messages is Google consolidating their RCS monopoly. Samsung had one of the better default messaging apps and they are killing it to force everyone into Google ecosystem lock-in. The security argument is marketing fluff. This is about data collection and advertising reach.

Samsung keeps shipping duplicate apps nobody asked for, then discontinues the original to push Google Messages into the gap. The Galaxy Store ghost-townships of Samsung Browser, Samsung Pay, and Samsung Messages show exactly how this works. At least Google Messages has RCS support now, which is more than Samsung ever managed to deliver consistently across devices.
