Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

The Epstein files law requires they release the names. Prosecution can be left to the states.

The Epstein files law requires they release the names.

Yep. This is the new left hand of the regime telling Congress, "Fuck you, we're not going to obey your law."

Prosecution can be left to the states.

Not so much...

The law requiring release of the Epstein documents is a federal law, so the federal justice system has jurisdiction.

And each state only has jurisdiction over acts that took place within that state.

[–] Asafum@lemmy.world 12 points 3 days ago (1 children)

It's federal, that's fine then. We'll just go to the head of the DOJ and have him go and... arrest... the head... of the... DOJ... Right, right... I see the issue here...

[–] fartographer@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Wait, wait... I think you're doing it wrong. Lemme try.

We need the DOJ to prosecute the... DOJ... Because they aren't following their laws?

What if we start with a flow chart?

[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

Why we need the midterms to out the right and take back majority. Also why Trump wants to cancel the midterms. But jokes on us even if the Democrats took control they wouldn't do it either. They control by the same group of elite pedophiles.

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 days ago

Bold of you to assume they care about the law.

[–] BigMacHole@thelemmy.club 69 points 3 days ago (2 children)

We are going to PROTECT Child Rapists!

-Republicans!

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 22 points 3 days ago

You know another name for Pedophile Protectors?

Pedophiles.

[–] danc4498@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

~~going to protect~~

[–] lemmylump@lemmy.world 35 points 3 days ago (1 children)

That's not how this works.

This FUCK is just another gatekeeper who needs to be forced out of the way.

Ideally, we are at a moment for a whistleblower to come forward or leak all the files to torrent sites across the internet so they can be accessed by all.

If I had access I would leak it all in a heartbeat even if it meant my death.

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 14 points 3 days ago (2 children)

This FUCK is just another gatekeeper who ~~needs to be forced out of the way~~ have their top half separated from their bottom half by being drawn and quartered.

ftfy.

[–] ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Slight quibble: being quartered means having your top half separated from your bottom half and your left half separated from your right half. The "drawn" part means you're dragged around the city first. Otherwise you're 100% correct.

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago (2 children)

To quibble your quibble..

If you are drawn and quartered, wont technically, also, your top half be separated from your bottom half, and incidentally, your left from your right?

[–] Murse@slrpnk.net 3 points 3 days ago

Calm down, calm down. We can compromise like reasonable people here: meet in the middle by ripping him into three pieces.

[–] Soup@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

To be honest I always had the imagery of horses doing the work, so the “quarters” would be three limbs and a remaining limb still attached to the rest of your body.

You know there is like, a split second where it probably feels really, really good.

[–] Sanctus@anarchist.nexus 30 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Yeah that sounds like you need to be hung by your feet from a tall place.

Edit: and what the fuck is up with the stammering sheepishness? Put these fucker's feet to the fire dont make them feel like the big man in the room. Put some fucking venom in your questions.

[–] CaptDust@sh.itjust.works 11 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

There are no journalist left in the room to push questions. The people we hear asking are the weak ass leftovers who capitulated on "gulf of america" and handpicked replacements from fly-by-night rightwing podcasts/blogs.

[–] santa@sh.itjust.works 17 points 3 days ago

Circle of suits. Sue DOJ, but they determine they don’t need to be sued for breaking law.

Yet another Constitutional crisis. Add it to the pile.

[–] NateNate60@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago (1 children)

The titles are each missing a colon.

The new Acting Attorney General, Todd Blanche[:] We’re not going to prosecute the predators in the Epstein files or release their names to the public

Acting AG[:] We’re not going to prosecute the predators in the Epstein files or release their names to the public

[–] very_well_lost@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago

Weird they can't even spare a colon when there are so many assholes to go around...

[–] electric_nan@lemmy.ml 7 points 3 days ago

...and whyzzat now?

[–] santa@sh.itjust.works 8 points 3 days ago

Just the victims. So nothing has changed.

[–] Omopaladin@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

I am angry about the Epstein files as well, but the title does not describe what he said at all.

[–] Eryn6844@piefed.blahaj.zone 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

if you protect the pedos you are one of the pedos.

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 1 points 3 days ago

Or benefiting from the corruption in some other manner... Financial, protection from law enforcement/mafia, etc.

[–] RunningInRVA@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

What happens if the senate never confirms a new AG? Do we just get this dirtbag in perpetuity?

[–] ZombiFrancis@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 days ago

That was Trump's go-to his first term. Why not the second? These ghouls are lasting longer than ever.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 3 points 3 days ago

The new Trump response:

"Yeah, we lied. Deal with it."

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 2 points 3 days ago

This guy would grind into a nice paste.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 3 days ago

A while back, I wanted to tell my son about some other crime this monster had admitted to, and my son didn't know who I was talking about, so I described him as Fred Flintstone's uglier, stupider brother, and my son instantly knew who I was talking about. Ever since then, I just refer to him as Todd Flinstone.
