Conservatism only holds one position, there should be in-groups that are protected but not bound by law, and out-groups that are not protected but bound by law.

The GOP = scared white snowflakes

[–] Wispy2891@lemmy.world 2 points 13 hours ago

If you look quickly, it just seems they were holding a smartphone, not a weapon

(paraphrasing that dumb fuck on "news"max that said that a protester holding a phone totally looks like someone aiming a gun to kill an officer)

She's not even looking where she's pointing and yet she's got her finger on the trigger.

Weapons handling score 0/10

Apparently he’s also hugging the side of the gun where hot shell casings eject. I remember the gun people were all over these fools calling various fouls.

Also her wrist is bent, which is something that makes me unreasonably angry whenever I see it, whether in real life or in movies/TV.

After all these years I just realized he also has his thumb behind 🤣

That shot is sure gonna look sooo cool… for .5 seconds

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago (4 children)

I have a few tiny guns like that. It would jam on the next shot from limp wristing it. She bought it because it was cute, has no idea how to use it.

For the life of me I cannot see why training requirements violate the 2A.

[–] Seleni@lemmy.world 1 points 14 hours ago

Because racists would inevitably set the requirements.

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 day ago

For the life of me I cannot see why training requirements violate the 2A.

I think in a perfect world, we should have some sort of impartial training. In the world we live in, I wouldn't trust Trump's administration to set the training requirements. I'm sure step 1 would involve turning over your social media accounts.

Fucking classic

[–] endless_nameless@lemmy.world 27 points 1 day ago* (last edited 4 hours ago) (1 children)

When will people realize that republicans do not support the first (edit: SECOND, lmao, but yeah first too) amendment? They support use of force to further their agenda. That's it. Making gun ownership out to be a right wing thing is such a gigantic fuckup.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 9 points 1 day ago

once fascists get full power, they will attempt to ban it totally throughout the country. mmuch like with russia, last thing putin wants is the populace with firearms.

[–] qevlarr@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago

Loved Jon Stewart this week

[–] btsax@reddthat.com 39 points 1 day ago (3 children)

I wish the internet would get over its collective obsession with pointing out conservative double standards. They don't care that they have double standards. In fact its a power move to show that they're above whatever petty moral code everyone else has tied themselves to

[–] freshcow@lemmy.world 21 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You're correct, of course. But there are still a certain amount of Republican voters who like to pretend they have principles. Then there are also so-called centrists and politically disengaged folks. Sometimes they need to be reminded exactly who these charlatans are, so there can be no excuse for confusing one side of the political spectrum with the other.

[–] Karjalan@lemmy.world 7 points 23 hours ago

Yeah, I came to the same understanding when I used to counter conspiracy nuts denying climate change and evolution etc.

You'll never convince them they're wrong or hypocrites... But people who stumble upon the thread that are not super critical thinkers will see the discussion and you can help them realise the person is actually full of shit.

Sometimes they can lie believably enough that people fall for it, and some of those people will snap out of it when they see the contradiction and logical fallacies.

They've beaten you into submission.

LARPing valuable insight is the least amount of action that people can put in while feeling they contributed something. "Oooh, look at them. Now someone else do something about it!"

[–] Someonelol@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 23 hours ago

They look like the inept culprits of a murder mystery right after they've been discovered and about to make a getaway.

[–] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 52 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Been saying it for years now:

Perfect hypocrites.

Anyone left at this point is a full-on cultist, fully subsumed into the hivemind.

[–] minorkeys@lemmy.world 21 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Hypocrisy is only a failing if you believe in fairness or justice.

[–] mirshafie@europe.pub 3 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago)

Altemeyer described this pretty well in Right-Wing Authoritarianism. He argues that right-wing authoritarians value strength above all other traits, and the ability to disregard rules is a signifier of strength. Thus, leaders who cheat are idolized by RWAs.

GOP Keynote speakers for this violent stunt.

[–] Alfredolin@sopuli.xyz 4 points 21 hours ago (2 children)
[–] jaschen306@sh.itjust.works 10 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

They basically went to a protest and pointed their guns at people. It's not even these fucks. There are so many more. When I lived in the US, someone in my neighborhood did this.

[–] yeather@lemmy.ca 9 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

Actaully they never left their property. The protest marched right by their home and they walked outside brandishing the guns.

[–] MBech@feddit.dk 3 points 14 hours ago

"I am so scared of the protesters outside, I need to defend myself! Quick wife! Grab the guns and lets get on the front lawn, because we're so incredibly scared of the violent protesters who could come bursting in here any second, to murder us for being white!"

[–] oozy7@lemmy.world 3 points 18 hours ago

Still both of them are POS

[–] NannerBanner@literature.cafe 7 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

These two are a couple who came outside their home and pointed the weapons you see pictured at a group of protestors marching past said home.

[–] Alfredolin@sopuli.xyz 8 points 17 hours ago (2 children)

Thanks for the lmddgtfy link. For anyone curious: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Louis_gun-toting_incident they are a couple which were not happy about George Floyd protests going near their home so their perfectly measured response was to come out with guns. 🤣 Charges have been filed, they pled guilty and in the end got pardoned and their criminal record expunged. Waow.

[–] NannerBanner@literature.cafe 8 points 17 hours ago

and in the end got pardoned and their criminal record expunged.

Yep. This sort of action is why I'm not confident about any optimistic view of deprogramming the maga cult. They are in enough positions of power to rule us all based on the rule of law. The violations of constitutional rights and flouting court orders is just to throw red meat to the base.

[–] Kazumara@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 14 hours ago

in the end got pardoned and their criminal record expunged

Fuck I missed that update. I was so happy they got punished. :-(

[–] HumanOnEarth@lemmy.ca 36 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Yes we all know. Umfortunately the hypocrisy is completely invisible to them, so posts like this are a circlejerk at best.

I love how he's holding it wrong.

[–] Th4tGuyII@fedia.io 29 points 1 day ago (5 children)

Trump’s rhetoric was similar to that of Los Angeles-based federal prosecutor Bill Essayli, who tweeted over the weekend that, “If you approach law enforcement with a gun, there is a high likelihood they will be legally justified in shooting you.”

Have they seen the multiple angles of footage of this?

Man had a phone in one hand and the person he was helping up in the other.

Unless he had a third hand somewhere, I struggle to see where the fucking gun was.

They really be taking the old GOP doctrine to psychopathic levels just to own the Libs.

[–] cannedtuna@lemmy.world 29 points 1 day ago

They’ll put whatever spin they can on this to justify the actions of their gestapo.

Jon Stewart says it best:

“They’re lying. We saw it. And that’s how brazen they lie when they know we’ve seen the truth. That’s how they lie when they know we know. Imagine how they lie when there’s no evidence to contradict them. And maybe that more than anything was why Alex Pretti reall was a threat. Because he was brandishing a weapon, a handheld aluminum, 1080p, 60 FPS, weapon of mass illumination. Because there is nothing more dangerous to a regime predicated on lies than witnesses who capture the truth.”

[–] iamthetot@piefed.ca 18 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Yes, they have seen the videos. They are lying. They are liars.

What's wild about the difference is these two are obviously not using their guns in a responsible manner (posing while holding their weapons poorly) but Mr. Pretti was (concealed and holstered because there was no apparent imminent threat to him).

But as usual, some people think Guns Used By Friends Are Good, Guns Used By Enemies Are Bad.

[–] BanMe@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Could never tell if she's twacked out on a lot of adderall or some meth. Probably splitting hairs.
