Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

A bombshell new report from CBS News suggests that the Iranian Government has murdered between 12,000 and 20,000 protesters since the ongoing, national revolt against it began.

“Information trickling out of Iran on Tuesday suggests that a crackdown by authorities to end more than two weeks of widespread anti-government protests has likely been far more deadly than activists outside the country have reported,”

CBS is currently beholden to the Nazi's and I don't know if I trust their reporting. It would be in the US' best interest to show Iranian instability as well as how violent "real" protesting is to try and dissuade domestic ideas.

That said. If Iran is murdering 10k citizens a week, their government won't last through the end of the month. One can only hope.

Agreed.
Need an aljazeera link.

[–] gedaliyah@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Al jazeera is literally the Qatari state media.

[–] mrdown@lemmy.world 24 points 1 month ago (5 children)

So? Is iran controlling Qatar?

[–] hypna@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Qatar has much better relations with Iran than most Arab states. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran%E2%80%93Qatar_relations

[–] mrdown@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago

Qatar is a country that try to keep an image of the country who get along with everybody that's why it has good relation with the two enemies the usa and iran.

Qatar will be 'based' in USA!

[–] avidamoeba@lemmy.ca 28 points 1 month ago

Yup. Whatever's coming out of CBS on topics where Israel has vested interest, there's a good chance of hasbara. Could still be true but a bucket of salt is recommended.

[–] Mrkawfee@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

20,000 soldiers were killed on the first day of the Somme in WWI which involved literally mowing down rows of soldiers with machine gun. We would see plenty of evidence if this was happening to civilians in cities even without internet.

I really, really hope the protesters succeed. Iran has such a glorious history and wonderful people - they deserve so much more. It could retake its place as the shining example of countries in the region, as it was for most of the last 5000 years.

[–] DaMummy@hilariouschaos.com 18 points 1 month ago (2 children)

It doesn't happen to have anything to do with America overthrowing their government and the creation of Israel, does it?

[–] thallamabond@lemmy.world 23 points 1 month ago

Hey now, don't leave out the UK. (And the real power, oil money)

[–] Snowclone@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

We're we also destabilizing the region to harm Russia during the cold war? I forget.

[–] SocialMediaRefugee@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago (2 children)

As long as the US doesn't march in and say "We'll help you with your oil and write your laws for you."

CBS News

12,000 and 20,000 protesters

Dawg Pakistan wasn't even able to arrest that many people in the past 2 years worth of protests against an army with actual firepower that has been working overtime to get people killed.

It even took Gaza a solid month to reach those numbers under constant bombing campaigns and a wall of IFVs.

Iran's internet has only been complete blackout for 4 days, so unless they decided to unload several war days worth of ammunition in a purge killing spree, this isn't possible. AP is reporting 2.7k.

[–] hector@lemmy.today 11 points 1 month ago

News orgs are getting orders from ellison getting orders from the administration. Apparently they do not feel they need people in reality to be on board with iran war 2 so they just supply obviously obscenely inflated figures.

[–] Mrkawfee@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

Its atrocity propaganda

[–] 3abas@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

2.7k is most likely a big overestimate.

[–] SocialMediaRefugee@lemmy.world 28 points 1 month ago (2 children)

With the Trump admin looking who to attack next around the world I don't trust any of these numbers.

[–] Blackmist@feddit.uk 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The regime admitted to 2,000.

And while 12,000 is the highest number I've seen so far, it's got to be somewhere between those figures.

[–] hector@lemmy.today 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Us media is not credible here either. They are being tooled for iran war 2.

[–] SocialMediaRefugee@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Reminds me of the girl who testified for Kuwait before congress telling all sorts of horror stories about the Iraqi occupation. It turned out she was the daughter of a Kuwaiti official and had made it all up to get the US to get involved.

[–] hector@lemmy.today 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Israel especially. They need war to forestall elections and accounting for blame that their politicians have refused to accept any of. And to forestall their own criminal prosecutions.

Israel's epstein blackmail seemingly gives them absolute power over the government here. This is their doing, Iran their long standing boogeyman they pretend is advanced enough to hurt them.

[–] Mrkawfee@lemmy.world 24 points 1 month ago

Literally atrocity propaganda.

This is the Iran equivalent of the beheaded babies.

CBS is owned by Larry Ellison and run by Bari Weiss. Zionist fanatics who are Israel first.

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 24 points 1 month ago

holy shit, that’s awful.

[–] hector@lemmy.today 22 points 1 month ago

Bombshell report is right. This report was literally made to precede bombs.

Western media always gets played by the cia, state department, israel, et al.

There might be protests, they are associated with the west, on issues the west exacerbated the problems of for this purpose, helped in Iran, but also agent provokateurs to stir up violence.

Protesters are pawns, media is a bishop perhaps, in fomenting another iran war. If we can use a chess analogy when one player lacks major pieces.

If you think the us and israel are going to make anything better, it explains how we got into our own political position.

[–] anon_8675309@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago

This is the new CBS. Is this true or is it giving Trump what he needs to go in there?

[–] Gates9@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

These numbers are bullshit, they exceed even war casualty numbers where artillery and air power are used. Obvious propaganda.

[–] REDACTED@infosec.pub 4 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Systematic killings of civilian population is far more "efficient" than shelling. Any genocide will tell you that.

[–] Godric@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago (4 children)

Fucking monsters, I hope the Iranian people string up their opressors.

Oi, that's more then most tiananmen square massacre estimates. Must be crazy to be there right now.

[–] myfunnyaccountname@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 month ago

This is what a mass protest would look like in the US.

Tr*mp: "How soon can we do that here?"

Everything doesn't have to be about the US.

[–] tostos@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

12.000 number came first from JerusalemPost/TimeofIsrael side so its not reliable.
